New game reviews I’ve recently written are blooming over at GamerDad.com, so here’s a bouquet of them for you.  Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two  I’d appreciate it.  OK let’s begin!

More Minecraft Movie McDonald’s Madness!

A couple of weeks ago I wrote an article about the Minecraft movie meals you could get at McDonald’s.  Well I’ve gotten a few more things from them since then, thanks to my family, so let’s take a look at those, too!

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (PS4)

Back in the 90s, 3D platformers starring colorful mascot characters were all the rage, even in the early days. One of the first ones out of the gate on the PlayStation was Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. It was made by Argonaut, yes the same folks who helped create the original Star Fox.  I remember playing this on a demo disc (remember those) back then and not liking it.  Mainly because the controls were awkward.  This was back before the PSOne had analog sticks, so Croc had more tankish controls.  It took a while before the PlayStation had quality 3D platformers as good as the N64 ones.  Me personally, they didn’t catch up until Ape Escape and maybe Spyro.  Anyway, because I didn’t like the first Croc game on the demo disc, I skipped out on the other entries in the series.  Turns out there was a lot more than I thought.  There was a 3D sequel as well as a handful of 2D games on handheld and mobile devices.  And I’ve watched a lot of videos with gamers saying they loved Croc as a kid.  I’m willing to give games a second chance, so I’m glad I got to review this remaster.

Pilo and the Holobook (Switch)

When you were little, did you ever have a sticker album?  It seemed to be a popular thing when I was a youngster back in the 80s anyway.  Not sure if they’d allure today’s technology savvy kids or not, but what if I told you now there’s a game about filling up a sticker album!  Because that’s just what you do in Pilo and the Holobook.  In the game, you play as Pilo, a little humanoid fox critter who assists a Professor.  This Professor has just invented a Holobook.  Just point the Holobook at something and it’ll scan it and make a sticker out of it that you can then place in the book and it’ll store info on it like an encyclopedia.  So your job as Pilo is to go from planet to planet scanning everything you can to fill up the Holobook.

Hegzis (PS4)

Hegzis is a puzzle game played on a hexagonal grid, with connected hex pieces for you to place and rotate on the field.  When a full line of hexagon pieces go from one side to another, they’ll disappear.  Do this enough times to clear the level.

Tales of Autumn (Switch)

Tales of Autumn may look like your typical farming sim game, imitating such titles like Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and Stardew Valley.  But this one has a little twist to it.  You’ll just have to read on to find out what it is!

Cozy Stitch Puzzle (Switch)

Piece together pictures of cute plush animals (or maybe they’re stitched on patches, I don’t know) in Cozy Stitch Puzzle on Switch.  It’s very similar to a game I reviewed last year called Magic Cats Pots.

Leo & Mia: Animal Rescue (Switch)

Play as cat pair Leo or Mia as they rescue animals in this 3D adventure game.  Go out on missions in the savannah, jungle, and mountain regions as you rescue and take care of animals as well as fight off poachers.  Supposedly this is a sequel/spinoff game where in the first one you played as Leo the firefighter.  I never played that game so I don’t know how different this one is.

Blazing Trail (PS4)

When I was a kid back in the NES days, one of the big game makers was Konami.  They brought us such classics like Castlevania, Contra, and Life Force.  But one of their NES games that didn’t get as much attention was Jackal.  This was an army themed game where you drove around a Jeep in an overhead perspective and shot at bad guys.  I don’t remember playing it much myself, but in recent years I’ve read articles and watched videos of people having fond memories of Jackal.  So I’m glad I got the opportunity to review Blazing Trail, as it reminded me a lot of Jackal.  Drive around an armored vehicle and shoot at bad guys and rescue hostages in this 2D action game.

And that’s all for now!  Thanks for reading my reviews and posting ‘likes’ and comments on them!  I do appreciate it!  Later!  --Cary
