Xbox One vs. F-Zero GX

Due to a severe storm in our area, plus lightning/thunder, our Time Warner Cable did what it does best and went out. I saw the truck in our alleyway just after getting back from my walk, and the cable and internet came back on.

You know what the first thing I did was when our stuff went out? Played F-Zero GX on my Gamecube, getting to Story Level 6 from Story Level 3, playing a few Grand Prix races to earn money so I could purchase those levels (which was annoying, cause I know I've done it already; stupid low memory card space).

Who makes a bomb that only goes off if a vehicle drops below a certain speed?

A guy in a black suit that resembles a bull-demon. #Video games.

You know what would happen if I had forgotten to hook my Xbox One up to the internet within twenty-four hours of this happening? Apparently, it would be useless, according to this exchange between Kotaku and Microsoft VP Phil Harrison, which gigantor21 has posted elsewhere:

Kotaku: If I’m playing a single player game, do I have to be online at least once per hour or something like that? Or can I go weeks and weeks?

Harrison: I believe it’s 24 hours.

Kotaku: I’d have to connect online once every day.

Harrison: Correct.

So, to recap:

VS

Winner:

In fairness, I actually like the look of the thing and thing the all-in-one features are cool to me as a more casual gamer/ someone who's more or equally interested in other media. So it's too bad none of that matters, since this is really driving me away from the system

There was an IGN article that said Kinect has improved dramatically. Not owning current-gen consoles, I didn't know what was wrong with it to begin with, but it damn well better be awesome since it's also mandatory. Seriously, when did consoles start having the same mindset of the IRS? I mean at least my taxes go to to things like law enforcement and Medicare, but why the hell does my disposable income need to go to a white-boy-dancing-around-like-a-jackass-recorder I don't even want?

I'm still excited for E3, but today was not a good day for Microsoft as far as myself, or the stock market (Sony was up nine points during the reveal), are concerned.

F-Zero GX FTW always. Did you ever consider getting a bigger memory card? I know I'd be angry if I lost my save file after beating the whole game on Master Mode with every character. You wont believe me when I say that I broke 3 controllers trying to beat that game on the hardest modes. Years later I made a file on another memory card and did everything again, F-Zero GX is by far the hardest game I ever beaten, but it felt rewarding in the end. Plus it still looks amazing after all these years, next to Rogue Leader and Windwaker, heck the Metroid Prime games look good as well.

Not linking that about the new XBox, they should of named it Durango and had it make a truck sound when you turned it on. I think I may play GX later this week.

I considered just getting another memory card in fact, it's just been so long since I played it, I didn't realize what had been erased. It didn't erase my Story mode progress this time so I'm fine with that. I could care less about my "garage," honestly.

And I definitely believe you, this game is ridiculous in terms of difficulty. I'm quite impressed you did all that. I'll just be happy if I beat story mode.

I thought Infinity was the best name they had for it. XBOX One is going to consfuse so many parents and grandparents, just like Wii U probably has ... and Infinity would have gotten across the message of it being upgradeable over time they apparently tried to send, so I really don't understand the name.

All this Kinect stuff is totally not going to be a part of serious games, no matter how much they say it will. It's purely for the non or casual gamers out there that will primarily be using Xbox as a Netflix/TV/Internet machine. I thus wait for E3 for the info pertinent to me. Huff.

I get that, but that's why I'm not thrilled that it's required. And yeah, E3 will have more info, hopefully.

I thought Kinect would be built into the system somehow, but it's still a seperate unit. I move my system to my friend's house every weekend, so I'm not thrilled to have to pack so much stuff. But maybe I will leave Kinect in the box and never use it.

Time Warner Cable sucks, glad I don't use it.

F-Zero GX is awesome.  But also super hard!  I like to play as the fat samurai guy in the pink car and Mrs. Arrow.

I'll only be interested in the new Xbox when it has enough fun games to play on it.  I love my 360 and PS3, but I didin't get them right away either, believe it or not.

I didn't get them at all (or a Wii), so I believe it. lol

it's amazing that with all our technology and stuff we are still such at the mercy of natural elements.

Nature: Nature's bullshit way of telling man to get outside more. What a prick.

Yeah... I'd be totally fucked whenever a massive storm hit and I was running on the generator for a week..

It's happened before and it'll happen again..
I'll let everyone know what my PS4 ID is whenever I get one lol

Ironic in that you require an internet connection to do that. lol

I need to get that gane for my Gamecube. Looks like a lot of fun. I can sympathize about your cable situation. We switched to Dish Network and have far fewer problems with losing signal now. It used to be ridiculous with Cox. The going online every 24 hours is weird. What the hell is that all about? They plan on checking up on us? Making sure we aren't up to some mischief? What if we go on vacation, does our console brick?

And it directly contradicts what a UK rep said, apprently, that it is definitively not necessary for it to be connected. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/21/xbox-one-doesnt-require-internet-connection

Now I'm starting to wonder which of these guys got it wrong, and I'm actually leaning towards that it's not always-online and the VP just said something very stupid, cause what scenario would the twenty-four hour thing apply in? Wouldn't it make more sense to have straight yes or no, like the no the UK guy gave? But then the VP comments came later ... I'm confused.

F-Zero GX is such a great game. Definitely beats the pants off Xbox One lol

I'd actually really like to play a next gen F-Zero...

Me too! I was really sad when Sega did away with its named dev teams. Was it Amusement Visions that did GX? I wonder how many of those people are even still at Sega.

Don't forget that the first F-Zero is far superior to the Xbox One also. Then again so is garbage lol. Tongue Out

Yeah, after watching all the current information regarding Xbox One, I think i'll just stick to a Wii U, thank you very much Microsoft.

I have never played GX, but I did owned X on the N64. That one is also a great F-Zero game.

I think I actually had the most fun playing that one. I miss the cheesy announcer, and until I looked up on Youtube for nostalgia's sake, forgot all about the X Cup. Plus, while GX maintains the themes for the most part, X had much more of a shred guitar/heavy metal feel to it in general.

GX is still an awesome game, and really nails the sense of speed, but I think I really started loving the series with X.

thus why I have so many systems to choose from if one happens to be in that situation. But it would be easy to realize during that downtime we'd be owners of an expensive paperweight.
