So I decided I wanted to do some renovations....

So I finally decided to get my stuff out of the spare room and turn it into a play room for my Coopa. But in order to get my stuff out, I had to do a bit of renovating to my Man Cave in regards to storage. It turned out really well, so I decided to share it with you all (Plus, you get a sneak peek into where I normally play games!).

So enjoy my mad skillz! Lol

I had this crappy old wooden ladder laying out back in my 'To Be Burned' pile, and after I looked at it for a while, I figured I would spare it from it's cruel fate and make it into something useful!

Gimme a Fuck Yea for power tools!

I measured out some areas and I cut sections to fit (Rough dimensions, I wasn't shooting for perfection!). Afterward I primed this bitch up and went out to buy some more paint! Notice the spacers underneath each section? Those will come into play later....

I ultimately decided on a deep Red color to match the trim in my Man Cave. After 3 coats and some touch ups (Red is an AWFUL color to paint evenly), they are finally ready to roll!

I mounted these up with four 6-inch screws (One in each corner). The Spacers I mentioned before were used to give me a little more space between the wall and the Shelving Ladder so shit wouldn't fall off. In total, I had about a 3 inch lip (2 inch ladder + 1 inch spacer) to store shit.

As you can see though, the 3 inches were more than enough to store my games on! This is more or less the 'finished' outcome. I still have some stuff to move around and organize, but I think it turned out pretty well! And as for that black thing on the wall to the left? That was a custom beer-bottle opened my buddy made for me in a Boondock Saints theme!

Here is the other unit I made. It mostly contains the overflow of my NES/SNES/N64 games. And yes, those are Boondock Saints action figures (They're not dolls dammit!) in their packages below!

So yeah, that was my recent reno job. It took me a couple of days since I had to constantly paint and repaint (Fuck you Red-Color!), but I think it turned out pretty nicely. Now I have a nice and big space in the spare room to convert into a play room for my son.

Hope you enjoyed this little blurb of mine, lol.

pretty impressive, man.  I could use a man cave myself, things are getting a little cramped in here.  I don't have as many games though, but I would love to put all my old games like Sega Genesis and stuff up on a shelf, that would be awesome.  right now they are in the closet.

I plan to keep expanding on my game collection (Both new and retro), so hopefully I'll get those shelves completely filled at some point!

Looks cool. You should have a DIY show where you say stuff like "primed this bitch up."

Nice job Chris! It looks great plus you gave that crappy ladder a much greater purpose. I was wondering WTF those pics were on facebook lol. I guess I should have read the description. Embarassed

Man, I never would have thought to turn a crappy old ladder into shelving. Awesome idea and it definitely turned out well!

Been following this on Facebook. Nice to see it all in one place. Now if you want to come up here, my place could use some interior decorating, and Court, Coopa and I wouldn't even be in your way, lol.

That is a fucking awesome idea you did for shelving, very creative. I wish I could pull something like that off but knowing my ass I would cut a hand or finger off, lol!

I have dreams of designing a cool game room. Shelving where you can see everything for easy access is key. Good job.

Turning a ladder into shelving units is an ingenious idea. Never saw that done.

Nice reno job! That is certainly something I you could possibly see on HGTV or something and I would see it and be like ooo I wanna do that lol although I sadly don't have a man cave yet....

Very creative piece of work. You're a pretty handy fellow. I love making stuff like that, too. I made two small shelves for my PSP and DS games. I really like that bottle opener you have with the Celtic cross on it. I need more wall stuff in my man room like that. I have to find those Boondock Saints figures. I love those movies, have em both on Blu-Ray.

Storage is always fun when it comes to game setups. I wish I could make something simliar in game placement. I can't build a squared shelf if my life depended on it, let alone shelving.
