I've done shit lately*

I did not blog about it

but what can you do?

I'm back at school now

getting my Masters degree

look forward to stuff**

* Finsished Arkham Asylum, House of Cards, and Mockingjay, and wrote goodreads reviews for every Hunger Games Trilogy book, as well as Netflix reviews for HoC and Bo Burnham's what., which I also watched; ate at Polish restaurant with funny bathroom doors I took pictures of, ate Smokehouse burger from Red Robin that won some sort of 2013 award, and ate at Ojeda's twice in one week, once for lunch with a friend, then for my older brother's birthday; bought a 32" flat screen TV: LG32LN5300; got a new radio in my car: went from Profile PCD920 that was supposed to flip down and allow for CDs but didn't, to an Alpine brand radio from my dad's junked van that plays CDs and has a convenient little shelf for my receipts; also discovered my car has cup holders this entire time ...

** I just found out we're going to have TED Talks here at my university on February 8th. The event is called TEDx SFA and is $10 for students. Can. Not. Wait. Otherwise, just looking forward to another semester studying media and not being able to consume as much media because I'm busy studying it. Chew on that, Alanis Morissette song co-writer, Glen Ballard.

TED Talks rule. I discovered them earlier this year and overdosed. I'm recovering, but will be back for more.

I love the combat and stealth sections, so I'm keeping the game installed to do the challenges. I also liked how the scanning and Riddler puzzles made it feel a bit like Metroid Prime. I thought the story was a bit disappointing, though. The ending felt fairly inconsequential. I wish they would have taken that Spirit of Arkham thing further, and had it be a part of the story outside of just scanning those stones.

yeah the story isn't great, and is a little cartoonish.  but the game part of it is pretty amazing.

That's the thing, though. It wasn't that cartoonish at first. It felt fairly dark zooming in on Joker's face when he was beinf admitted to the Asylum, then it went cartoony.

You should have had Spider-Man writer J. Michael Strazinski (good last name, wonder if it's Polish, like mine is) re-arrange your room for you. I'd pay for that.

So, what did you think of Mockingjay? Haven't read the book, so keep it spoiler-free please.

It was my favorite of the series, but there seems to be a theme where people who really loved Cathing Fire dislike Mockingjay and vice versa. I have more in-depth and non-spoiler thoughts in my goodreads review of it.

Haikus: Never understood them. They are suppose to be poems that don't ryhme. Why not call them what they are then: Word sentences.

Actually, the definition of "poem" doesn't necessitate a rhyme scheme,

1. A verbal composition designed to convey experiences, ideas, or emotions in a vivid and imaginative way, characterized by the use of language chosen for its sound and suggestive power and by the use of literary techniques such as meter, metaphor, and rhyme.
2. A composition in verse rather than in prose.
3. A literary composition written with an intensity or beauty of language more characteristic of poetry than of prose.
4. A creation, object, or experience having beauty suggestive of poetry.

(from freedictionary.com)

Poems are characterized more by their difference from prose (what most novels are written in) than by rhyme sccheme, which is only one of several literary devices that characterize a poem.
