I Played Did Dug On an Arcade Cabinet

Linked to Article Series: Final Fantasy Retrospective

It was in Coke Zero's Social Lounge thing.

I also played Galaxian and some "Steam Roller" game where you had to paint the area by rolling.

I played all three on a Donkey Kong cabinet. I would have played the other games in said cabinet had a kid not walked up behind me after my loss in the Steam Roller thing. I fucking hate kids when it comes to being in line for the same games I want to play. You have to concede to them no matter what, or you're the asshole. I hate those little shits, and if you have a child, I think it's ugly and smells and you need to tell them that Uncle Joey isn't in the mood for their crap when he's been drinking and wants to play some Galaga

Oh yeah, I was also less than 10 ft away from Kevin Hart, LL Cool J, Tim McGraw and The Killers today.

Pictures and video to come, and Cary Woodham will be happy to know there was a Ms. Pac Man cabinet not at all far away from The Dallas Morning News's HQ.

Go Huskies (UConn)!

And now to do the same thing for tomorrow for fun. and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. This is all free by the way. Those cheese fries and jalapeno corn dog were deliciously expensive, though. They're taking the Ozzfest 2007 approach with free admission, but they're making a killing off marked-up stuff at these concerts, I'm sure.

I'm not complaining though, that giant $10 beer cup was almost worth the $5 I think it was worth. It was the best beer I've had in a while ... and yet I have no idea what kind it was ... I should not buy drugs for a while, I'm getting too trusting. I think that vendor girl was like 16, she may have been an immigrant slave.

If there's gonna be links to events that could only possibly happen once and have passed, like Something Something 2013, I'm gonna use them as a joke, because how else would you use them exactly? lol

I once started a Dig Dug fan fiction called "Pump 'Em Til They Explode: The Totally True Confessions of Dig Dug."

Haha did you post that anywhere online? Laughing

ah, not yet.  been a while since I thought about it actually.  IT was basically about the curse of fame. Plus, Dig Dug was a misogynist (obviously).  Tongue Out

Dig Dug is hard to control in his game, so I imagine he'd be hard to control at parties. Mysogynist makes sense. I also would have accepted nymphomaniac.

I got a Bubble Bobble fan biopic script percolating called Pop Dragons: The Story of Bub and Bob, Japanese Gangsters.

They'll put you in a bubble then pop you with their spiny backs. You better stay low, the Pop Dragons are on the prowl!

If Namco makes a prequel to Dig Dug, it should definitely be called "Did Dug". Please don't correct your title, because it is rad!

That "Steam Roller" game you played is probably Crush Roller, otherwise known as Make Traxx in the US.  Crush Roller was one of SNK's first games.  There is even a remake of it on the Neo Geo Pocket Color (I have it).

While I'm proud to have written for The Dallas Morning News, they kind of screwed me over in the end, so I'm a bit bitter about them, too.

You're lucky you get to go do things like this.  My excitement for the weekend usually consists of me going to Wal-Mart...if I'm lucky.

Crush Roller sounds right.

And I'm sorry, I didn't know about that w/ TDMN.

You should find someone to drive you to stuff like this. Or maybe ask me if I'm in town. Only reason I didn't offer this time is cause it was short notice for me too. I didn't even know who all was playing or if I cared to go at all until Friday night; all I had was my older bro saying cool stuff was happening.

Finding someone to drive me to places isn't as easy as it sounds.  But you know what?  I have to apologize for sounding so down and grumpy before.  Sometimes I get a little discouraged about my situation and I didn't mean to take it out on you, even though it sure sounded that way. So I am sorry.

I didn't think you were bringing it out on me at all. You have a right to vent, don't worry about it.

Wait if there is a Galaga machine, all bets are off with the kids. If you don't make eye contact, they are not there.

That's how these temporary venues get you, get in free $100000 for a bottle of water. Did Sony or Microsoft have a booth or a lounge set up?

I played some 2K b-ball with my Mavs vs. Kings (luckily the real Mavs did better than mine had by half time when I quit to watch Pat Green and won their game that day 93-91, right as Bruce started with his cover of Van Halen's "Jump!") on PS4, but otherwise not really. Those 4 TVs with PS4 controllers were pretty much inside the Team Coco area as far as I could tell, though maybe they were considered their own little corner.

I actually played Galaga on non-Galaga machines. lol I do like the cool green Galaga cabinet, though.

It was actually $3 for a bottle of Dasani, but I didn't mind, I gladly would have paid double what I paid at the stands for admission alone, given the bands playing.

I never get a chance to be at one of those lounges that have coin-op machines. I feel sad =(

UConn can suck it!
