Torchlight II tips?

Happy July 3rd folks!

With the long weekend almost upon us, I’ve decided to start playing Torchlight II which I picked up on a whim last week during the Steam summer sale. I guess my reason for posting this blog is to ask for advice on which character build I should choose to play as well as anything I should keep in mind when beginning. I would most definitely be considered an Action-RPG novice with my only previous experience being 7 hours with The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing.

Looking at the character classes available: Engineer, Berserker, Outlander & Embermage; I’m leaning towards Berserker as the most straightforward sounding class to get started with and to learn the different aspects of the gameplay. Generally, if given a choice of class, I go the magic route (so Embermage in this case I’m assuming) but figure I’ll try mix things up on my first character build.

Can anyone share some tips for a new player getting started?

Thanks!

I would suggest figuring out what kind of build and skills you want (Beserkers are primarily a melee class), and then sticking with it. You can experiment since skill points can be reassigned by talking to certain NPC's in town. Also, pets make it really convenient to keep on exploring since you can give all your unwanted loot to your pet and then send him back to town. Don't forget about healing and mana potions either! That last one probably goes without saying lol. Embarassed

This might help...

Thanks. I've gone ahead and started up a Berserker class and so far so good.

This Torchlight II talk has me really excited for a good action RPG. I may have to preorder Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition coming out in August.

I have it on my Amazon wishlist but will prob wait for a price drop. It's another game series I still need to get off my bucket list.

It's going to be only $40. I'm thinking I'll get two so my friend Mark can play it with me. The old Diablo III without all the DLC is not much cheaper. If it was $20, I'd get two of the old one and get the DLC later. I'll have to watch the price of the old one as August approaches.

Shit, I see it's $40 on PS3 at release but I want to get it for the PS4. On Amazon at least it's $60 at release for PS4. Lame. Once it drops to $40, I'll grab it for sure.

Torch Light 2, I almost bought that but I changed my mind. Not sure about those Diablotype dungeon crawlers/rpg games.

I wasn't so sure myself but that opinion has certainly changed. Once I got the general hang of what I needed to be doing, the game get's really interesting. It's so fast paced and there's a lot going on at all times. I'm basicly hooked now. It's all I want to play to the point that I'm gonna grab the next gen Diablo III Ultimate when I'm done

sorry but I got nothing. sounds like a good time to sink your teeth into the game though. an RPg during a long weekend is always fun.
