Video Games: The Movie

is on Netflix. I've got it in my Watch List.

I downloaded Legend of Korra on Tuesday, but have had no time between Homecoming week stuff for http://ksauradio.com and http://thepinelog.com and my Master's classes to play it. In fact, someone beat me to the punch as far as reviewing it over on http://plus10damage.com, where I have managed to write an article (yet to be published) about today's Smash Bros.-centric Nintendo Direct as well as one about Eternal Darkness and of course there was one about Legend of Korra on Steam (preview).

I didn't watch the 54-part announcement live though. In fact, I showed up to our Let's Play session of Hyrule Warriors right after it finished cause I was busy adopting a cat. Hyrule Warriors is great dumb fun with lots of cool nods for Zelda fans as far as I could tell when I played.

Oh and I love what I played of Psychonauts. The characters are hilarious, the art style makes it feel like a great kid's Halloween movie and the gameplay is addicting. It's also surprisingly good-looking compared to what I was expecting. And I can run it on my laptop for hours on end with no problem, but fucking Limbo manages to shut everything down on me. What?! Maybe I just have too much on there again. As graphically so-so as they are now, maybe III and Vice City are taking up too much space given the content of those games? The only other games I've downloaded are Limbo and Psychonauts, so I wouldn't think this would be a problem, but Arkham Origins definitely became less problematic when I cleared stuff off so ...

Anyway, what are your weekend plans? I'm covering a bonfire/pep rally event for the university and probably going to a rock concert at my favorite local bar Saturday after doing a remote broadcast for the tailgate for and attending the football game. Then I'll have to get a lot of work done Sunday.

I never finished Psychonauts on Xbox. Got to finish it sometime. The weekend will see me hunting for rare weapons endlessly in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Maybe I'll actually finish the story too.

You and Borderlands

Yea, it's a time sink kinda like Diablo or something. There's always more to do. My friend Mark's already got Golden Keys ready for me when we start playing on Sunday.

I'm going to be reviewing the Legend of Korra game.  Guess I'd better learn a little bit about the cartoon first. :)

My brother Jeff came over last weekend and we played Hyrule Warriors on Sunday afternoon.  It's WAY more fun with two players. Impa is awesome.

Like I said, Psychonauts was my Game of the Year for 2005, so you know I really liked it.  Keep playing it, there's so many great levels that are very creative.

If you completely trash the game, I won't hold it against you, but one bad word about the cartoon series outside of maybe season 2 and I'll have to reconsider our friendship. :) Haha just kidding, but I do really love the series.

Yeah, I played as Impa. I like her special giant ball of water attack.

And yeah, I plan on more Psychonauts when I get more time.

So, where are the pics of your new kitty? Kitten or adult? Color?

The last level of Psychonauts can be extremely frustrating. Just a heads up now. Psyconauts was the first Double Fine game I ever played, and hooked me on most of their games.  Because you're playing it, I'm now wandering around through the house quoting random phrases from The Milkman level.

One-year old tortoise shell, black and brown with yellow eyes. I didn't get any really good pictures cause she was licking herself in her cage while they were closing and I was leaving, but here ya go:

I might not complete Psychonauts then ... pretty frustrated as it is. lol

Looking forward to more pics. When do you pick her up?

I haven't yet. I did the paperwork yesterday and will pick her up next week after she gets spayed. Fine by me, I need to prepare for her.

Hey I gots one of those kitties

Here's a pic from a PM I recently sent to Tami. She is all better now and even at 15 she still plays like a kitten.

Torties only look like they're pissed off. She's the friendliest cat I've ever met (as long as you're not another cat). She keeps our 2 Siamese in line.

... Who was saying your tortie looked pissed? lol To me she just looked like she wanted something.

I am the Milkman.  My milk is delicious.

(I'm surprised that quote didn't take off like 'The Cake is a Lie' did)

It's unfortunately because Psychonauts didn't sell as well I'm guessing. Which is a shame, cause what I've played so far is truly great.

Oh those lying squirrels. Now where's my tin foil hat?

That kid scares me.

Is Limbo that dark game with the kid? If its the one I'm thinking about I like it, but I haven't experienced a lot of the game yet. I'm stuck on a puzzle.

As for my weekend, the usual: football, naps, swapmeet, maybe a game here and there, and whatever I find on TV.

Yes, that's the game.

Which puzzle are you stuck on, Chris? Is it the one with the ladder on the rolling cart? That's the one I'm stuck on.

Its been awhile. I think I just cleared a water puzzle and I climbed up a tree, and I have no idea where to go next. I know I'm supposed to go up but after a certain point I get stuck. I might have to buy PS+ again just so I can complete it and move my Vita gamesaves off the cloud to my laptop.

So Korra wasn't as great as expected? Oh well, it looks fun to me and I don't think it hurts to get it on sale. Just tell Jamison that the first Avatar is the best heroe's journey :P

Glad you started playing Psychonauts. That game is fun and many kinds of creative, even if the plataformer may be sloopy in some places.

If you asked me season 2 which I liked better, I'd say the first Avatar, though I like elements of Korra more. Now though, I think the series are about on par with each other.

Yeah, it's my first experience with a Tim Schafer title and I love it so far.

Just watched the Video Games The Movie last night, pretty cool. They kind of glossed over some stuff but considering it covers almost 60 years worth of progress in an hour and a half  I really can't complain. Psychonauts is awesome. I picked it up at Biglots for $3 for pc when my tv died and I HAD to get my video game fix. Got it again via psn since my computer died before I could finish it. Congrats on becoming a cat owner/ cat dad.lol  I got 3 of the rascals and could not imagine my life without them.

Yeah, I've watched part of it and the timeline skipping is a bit weird, but hey, it's entertaining ... and Reggie Fils-Aime never shuts off his business talk mode. lol

What? Limbo crashes your set up but not Psychonauts. funny you mention Eternal Darkness.....

Hope you enjoyed the Bonfire. They are always fun until someone falls in and you try to stomp them out.

As in gigantic bonfire per school tradition w police and fire dept. security and a fence all around the bonfire. Someone falls in, it's on them.
