I really do need to stock my fridge better. I just ... am never in the mood for the healthy shit I eat, so I just stock eggs, chicken, protein powder, and milk and don't snack. I should throw those dollar store hot dogs out too ... I never trusted them.

Anyway, my thesis committee went well just now. Got some good feedback, now it's just time to work. I prefer actually working to anxiously awaiting feedback, I'll tell you that much. I'm excited to graduate in May, hopefully.

Anyway, I wrote an editorial for plus10damage.com. Link is here: http://plus10damage.com/blog/2015/2/24/segments-vs-levels

Feel free to disagree vehemently, I expect it. I'll do my best to defend my position, which is somewhere between missionary and stay-at-home mom.

I know this is not a very substantive blog, but honestly I just want to play my PS4 or watch Netflix for a bit before the run club meets at 5:30. I'm honestly glad BaD is ending. Now it's time for GLaD! Game Log a Day in March! Yeeeaaaah!

I like levels too. I probably still wouldn't play NES games on a regular basis if I didn't lol. I had enough of that "immersion" crap last gen. Just give me a game that is fun and doesn't have a gagillion bugs. That's good enough.

I agree. I do like to be immersed, I just don't think the way they're going about it really works for me the way it seems to for others.

I like both but if I had my choice I would probably side with segments. I like the constant flow of a game instead of hitting the end of a level, and here is the start of another level. Of course with games like Tomb Raider/Uncharted and other similar games it works, and I think having straight up levels would probably hurt these types of games.

Honestly, the more I play Rayman Legends, the more I would tend to agree with you. I do like having it sectioned off so that momentum doesn't slow down. Thing is, the segments in Tom Raider can be like three seconds of button mashing, which I think makes the game feel less substantial and also slows its momentum down. It's all a balancing act really, I just grew up on games that balanced it in favor of one way and that's what I tend to like better in many cases. I have restarted entire levels in Legends cause I knew I missed a Teensie. lol
