Blog a Day- Day 21- Why I Can Never Write About Games Professionally

Posted on 02/21/2014 at 05:06 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I know what you mean, alhough 1 can be taken care of with a good editor to look over your work; you don't make that many mistakes or I would know; and 4 can be taken care of by just not giving scores to games and letting reviews speak for themselves.

Having said that, I'm not really that biased against Microsoft (now; age 11 was way different) and I like structure, so I think I could do a job like game journalism. I do hear what you're saying about "what if I wind up not liking games," though.

And I could never review JRPGs cause I'm so biased against them.

I'm pretty young, so anything before the release of NES isn't going to immediately come into my memory.

BaD #14 Couple New Additions, Spontaneous

Posted on 02/21/2014 at 04:56 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I like structure and completeness, so I tend to like finishing one game at a time, but I have made a few spontaneous game purchases recently. Lifting is about the same, I need a strict regimen so that I know I can follow and adjust it accordingly without too much hassle. Speaking of which, I need to get going here in a minute.

I used to play Lemmings on PC after school in grade school. I never tried to win except for a couple times, mostly I just laughed while I exploded those little dudes.

I think bad Internet connection is a pretty legit reason to miss a few BaDs, but glad you're still going.

Nice beard. It'll grow more, but it may take a while. Mine kind of stopped for a bit last semester, but after not shaving for four months, I had a (really ugly) Captain Morgan beard.

BaD Ep 21: Favorite Toys from my childhood

I too liked Hot Wheels and LEGOs, but I think I had more K'Nex. I had a couple Power Rangers action figures, but my brother had more action figures I think, like Ninja Turtles.

I had more Pokemon cards than toys, but the ones I did have were often from Burger King. BK used to have plastic Pokeballs and gold-plated (not really) cards inside or maybe plushies. My mom actually makes yarn Pokeballs for her grade schoolers.

I have a lot of toys from fast food kid meals.

Goatse. I looked that up. I hope you burn in hell. I hope a pit open up for you to burn in hell. I hope hands from nowhere open up a hole for you to go down into so you can burn in hell.

I do wish I could just get this on Steam, but I guess when I get a PS4, this'll be one of the first things I look at on PSN.

BaD Habits Die Hard

Ghost Trick is pretty awesome so far, but keep in mind it is basically a point-and-click(and slide) adventure where you solve puzzles by possessing objects. If that sounds like something you'd like, go for it! I actually haven't tended to go for point-and-click games in the past, but I figured they'd work great on DS, and one of my favorite games of all time, Elite Beat Agents had similar use of Japanese humor and DS functionality, so I thought why not?

I'll have to look up Murdered: Soul Suspect.

By the way, I typed "List of Zelda songs" into Google because I thought the song you got to sleep to sounded really similar to another song in places (turns out, I'm pretty sure, that similar song is "Song of Healing"), and I got a whole list of Koji Kondo songs conveniently laid out on the top of the page to scroll through. I wonder what other composers they've done that for.

Return to The BaDlands #20 - Do You Game on PC? Why/Why Not?

Yes. Steam is cheap and my games so far have run just fine.Tomb Raider still looks awesome despite my minimum-requirement graphics card. Well, actually, Fez does have an annoying blinking screen sometimes, I had to troubleshoot to get Arkham Asylum to work, and if it weren't so cheap, I wouldn't be cool with having to log into a service to access my paid-for content. Still, the pluses are greater than minuses so far.

I do want a PS4 and 3DS eventually, but another factor was that I upgraded my laptop last year for $400 and it can do pretty much anything and everything media consumption and production related I can think of, so that's cool. And when I plug in my 360 controller and my HDMI to the TV, it's basically like having a console.
