Having never played any System Shock or Dead Space games, only really ever getting into Eternal Darkness as far as horror games, and having never played a rogue-like or any game featuring permanent death, I have to say ...

this looks sweet, and I hope Steam gets it. I've never thought about the 80s futuristic aesthetic vs the new futuristic aesthetic in movies in terms of anything but neon vs. not neon, but the idea that 80s worked better because it allowed you to see more flaws is interesting. 

I am not an RPG fan, so I had plenty of fun with N64, but I get where you're coming from. Goldeneye really wasn't my cup of tea, either.

I know how you feel about little-commented, but hard-worked on blogs. I had that happen at 1up all the time. I think people will stumble on it if you tell them to go to the blog though. It's just hectic around here
