The Wolf of Wall Street and 13 Films From 2013

Posted on 01/02/2014 at 12:55 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I enjoyed Man of Steel for the awesome action scenes, and I didn't have as strong a reaction as some people, but I was hoping for something a bit different. I didn't hate it, but I definitely thought some of the actions and dialogue either made no sense, or could be rather clunky at times.

Are Pacific Rim and The World's End  your overall favorites, or just favorites on this list? I need to watch all of TWE soon. I wonder if it's on Red Box. Even better, maybe they'll show the Cornetto trilogy somewhere on TV. Laughing Is TWE your favorite of the trilogy?

I felt the camera shook a bit too much and didn't like a lot of the rapid zooming, but I will admit the action scenes looked pretty top notch. Like with Superman Returns, I like it fine, and I'd watch it again at home, but it just wasn't quite what I wanted. In my opinion, those movies are both very flawed for very different reasons, but I'm not enough of a Grinch to not enjoy them at all, I just find them disappointing.

I did like Iron Man 3. It had some really good elements, but like you said, I thought the plot was weak as well.

I hope you're able to see Pacific Rim and Wolf of Wall Street. I liked WoWS quite a bit more, but Pacific Rim was fun, too. The only movie still in theaters I'm really jonesing to see is American Hustle. Otherwise, the only movie I truly regret not being able to see in theaters is Gravity. The rest I feel fine with catching on DVD.

I can definitely see that. My friend and I had abou the same reaction to Now You See Me.

Sorry your plans fell through, unless of course you found something better. If you happen to catch Hobbit in future, it really is woth it for that action scene alone for me, although I realize going "holy crap that was awesome" at two orcs being shot through the head and nailed to the same tree may not be everyone'sreaction, so I suppose mileage may vary. lol

The Begnning Of New Year

Good luck and Happy New Year! I'm just going to take the year as it comes and try to focus on my future as much as possible.

Is Guardian of Light the sequel to the newest Tomb Raider, DLC for it, or did it come before the newest Tomb Raider? I still need to check how TR runs on my computer.

Steam On My Laptop (And a Happy New Year!)

Happy New Year! As Aaron suggested, the forums are a good resource for fixes.

I know I was having problems getting Arkham Asylum to run, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Then I noticed I had the demo for it still on my computer, and once I uninstalled that, it worked. So you might try re-installing some of your non-working games, or deleting any demos you may have on your PC for games you also have the full version of on your PC.

I have Sonic CD on my phone through Google Play, and I believe it's available for iPhone/iTunes Store. So that's another option if it won't work on your PC, I guess.

Ha! Didn't realize they were making LEGO: The Movie: The Game. It's funny too, because it seems like the movie is trying to capitalize on the success of the games to me, so it all comes full circle. I agree, the movie looks like silly, stupid fun.

Hadn't heard of Lococycle, but it sounds great, and glad to see games being made in Austin. It's one of my favorite cities to visit, and I wouldn't mind living there if I could afford it.

I love rythm-action, so I want to play a TheaterRythm game some time.

I love GGX2, so I imagine I'd like BlazBlue. Don't know any characters, though.

Chibi Robo was the most appealing game from Nintendo Direct for me as well. I never played the original.

DKC: Tropical Freeze looks great as well; I think they probably will still make it hard, though. I could be wrong. I don't know what your favorites are, but I remember the original Donkey Kong, DKC 1-3, and DK64 the best.

I liked Yoshi's Island's art style as a kid, but I don't remember much else about it. Is the yarn game supposed to be like Kirby's Epic Yarn?

I have some interest in the rest of the games you mentioned, including Shovel Knight.

Since your list is Nintendo-centric, are you at all curious about X for WiiU? Is it still coming out? I thought it looked cool.

Game Purchases of 2013 - Digital Games

Posted on 01/01/2014 at 04:02 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I'm still playing Fez and Batman: Arkham Asylum. I have a lot of games I have not installed from Steam yet, cause I'm thinking I'll save space if I wait until I feel I've completed what I want to of some games, then get them off my hard drive and download others. I am starting to have a problem with buying too many digital games as well, lol

Yeah, I tend to use the same sources of reviewers who's opinion I tend to agree with, or at least who I know, so I know if I'm more or less likely to agree with them. I think we pretty much have the same approach to reviews.

Not really, a show about the antics that take place in the lives of its characters is just a sitcom. Show about nothing is overselling the originality of the concept, methinks. I will fight you to the virtual death over this. Tongue Out
