Duolingo

Thank you. I looked up how to conjugate in future tense on Google, since I'm not there on Duolingo yet, but what I was wanting didn't pop up write away, so I just said "screw it, I'll write in present tense and see if Alex knows the right way to say it." lol

Same here. I got rusty after being five years removed from high school.

I love it. I'm still frustrated that French doesn't sound like how it's written, and my mom, who was formerly a French teacher, even corrected some of my pronunciations this morning. At least I'll know how to understand and write it on a basic level, though.

Holy crap, I forgot all about Number Munchers! One look at Google Image search and I remembered immediately. I didn't play that quite as much as other edutainment games (my mom was a computer teacher, so I played a good bit of them after school), but that brought back memories.

Do Graphics Matter? PBS Game/Show Vid

Interesting guy. I've thought about doing videos like this myself. I need a better camera, though. I'd ask for one for Christmas, but I already know what I'm talking about is above the credit card limit Santa has set on his presents for me.

I agree that immersion is more important than the number of pixels on screen, but I do like crisp, clean graphics at the highest resolution I can get nonetheless. I just watched that video in 1080p simply because I can with my new laptop, after all. In fact, watching things in HD is like my favorite pastime with this thing. lol

I thought it was clever how he used the fact he shot parts of this video at different times as a joke related to the point he was making. I'm talking about how the video was in the same resolution the entire time, but he said the clips he used from after he had gotten a haircut were the 720p versions because he had less hair.

I hadn't even thought of that, but you're right! haha. Although, he'd need to be bald and/or wearing a black pork pie hat. The skin tone/texture and the facial hair are definitely there, though. Lee, if you find a bunch of blue crystals near you, best throw it out or people will think you're cooking meth! lol

Nintendo Direct Recap

I honestly don't know if I care that much about Hyrule Warriors. I never played Dynasty Warriors before, and it always looked like a too-repetitive hack-and-slash series to me, but maybe that could be fun.

I thought the footage for Donkey Kong Country Returns and Mario Kart 8 looked awesome, though. It's also cool to see Sonic in a Mario level officially, though also kind of sad. Even though I was a Nintendo fanboy back in the day, I don't like that I'm reminded of Sega losing a lot of its footing whenever Sonic shows up in a Nintendo game.

My favorite part of that video was actually Chibi Robo, which even though Iwata mentioned was a Gamecube title, I never paid any attention to before. The concept and mechanics really interested me. I love how they're taking mundane household items and making them a special feature of a video game. It's also a clever use of the 3DS camera, in my opinion.

Kirby's switching back and forth between planes of the screen has been done before, so I wasn't that interested in that. I know I'm like the only one, but I'm honestly just not that big a fan of Kirby or his games.

NES Remix is a cool idea, and the stamps are a nice touch, but it's basically just Nintendo releasing official mods of their games. I can see why people would like that, but I bet a lot of modders have free content online that's just as good as whatever Nintendo came up with for that.

Rosalina is from Mario Galaxy, I'm assuming? I'd still be more excited to see Simon Belmont in these games myself, but you're the one that actually owns these systems, so I'm glad you got what you wanted! It'd be wasted on me. lol

Anyway, that's my $3.

Yeah, I've often thought my math skills would be better if I were more into RPGs. Then again, we did have Math Blaster, but I wasn't that into it. Different strokes I guess.

It's been looked into for sure, though. One of the research papers I wrote this semester was about how uses and gratifications research is applied to studying Internet communications. Uses and gratifications is basically where they survey people to find out why they use a certain type of media, and what they seek to gain from it. One of my research articles talked about using that research method to study the benefits of E-learning (electronic/online learning) for students.

Kids do amazing stuff on their own too, though. My mom had me edit together a video for her after one of her students made a LEGO robot that could solve the Rubik's cube. It was inspired by some guy named David Gilday, and the robot uses sensors to find out whether or not all of one side is the same color, and its arms move the cube until it's solved.

Good luck on the Spanish, Joe? Did I get that right? I don't want to look it up yet.

Gracias, Alex-C25. Et oui, Francais est dificile.

I'd type the correct accent marks in there, but with an English keyboard, it's a bit of a pain. lol
