Random Update 5-12-25

Oh wow, you're playing Sunseed Island?  I just got finished writing my review for that  It's not posted at the GamerDad site yet, as there's a bit of a queue before it.  Here's a tip while playing: when chopping down trees and picking at rocks, you'll sometimes get little bugs and artifacts.  Don't sell them just yet!  You'll need them later.

Congrats on getting a Switch 2!  I just BARELY was able to preorder one myself.  I recruited some of my family to help me pre-order it, and one of them was able to at Best Buy.  I know it may sound silly, but keep me in your thoughts and prayers that they won't cancel the preorder or something else goes wrong.  Having a Switch 2 right away will really help me review games, since all I got right now is just a Switch and PS4.

I really shouldn't be buying such an expensive piece of hardware right now.  But the way I see it, while saving money is important, you also have to treat yourself every once in a while and live life in the moment.  I don't go out to eat or go to movies or anything like that.  Video games are most of all I've got right now to stay sane, so that's why I went ahead and got a Switch 2 (hopefully).

I'd love to be able to boycott Nintendo right now because all the crap they've been doing lately.  But I only believe in boycotting if it doesn't hurt you or inconvienence you in any way.  And right now, none of the other console makers have anything I want to play.  PS5 only has one game, Astro Bot, and the X/S doesn't have anything.  But the Switch 2 already has more than five games coming out for it I want to play, with promise of more for the future.  I know it sounds weird for me to want to boycott Nintendo, but it's not the first time I preferred another company's console (PSOne over N64, 360 over Wii, etc.).

Most of all, I'm hoping when I get my Switch 2, that my brothers and friends will want to come over and play it with me.  My brothers and I especially have a soft spot for Kirby Air Ride, so Kirby Air Riders was the system seller for me.  And maybe I can play Mario Kart World with YOU!  You'll know it's me because I'll be playing as Toad!

RPG Week 2, I Guess

My knowledge of Marvel characters either comes from the movies (but I forget them pretty quickly), Marvel vs. Capcom, and the LEGO Marvel games.  I learned that She Hulk existed because of Marvel vs. Capcom 3.  I decided she'd be my favorite Marvel character because Phoenix Wright was in her ending, because I guess they're both lawyers?  Anyhow, whatever you do, just don't watch the She Hulk show on Disney+.  That was awful.  People on TV don't know how to be funny anymore.

There's a rumor going around that Chrono Trigger is getting a remaster...

Yeah it was great playing Pokemon Stadium with a crowd behind us.  I heard stuff like, "Aw, he chose Snorlax!"  "Go Snorlax!" "Wow, he has Mewtwo?!" "Look, Mewtwo used Swift Attack!"

Brothership has a really good message in the story about staying connected with friends and family.

Only other games and movies I remember having space whales are Star Fox and Fantasia 2000.  Link's Awakening kind of has one, but it doesn't go into space as far as I know.

Even though one of these is not in your timeline, I hope you get to play Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger.  FF6 is one of my top five favorite games of all time, and Chrono Trigger is not far behind that.

Super Mario RPG is also great.  The remake won my GOTY the year before last.  Such great memories playing this one.  Back in the day, my brother Jeff would always ask for me to play "Mario PG" and "Chwono Twigger."  But since he couldn't read yet, if I forget to read the text aloud, he'd yell out, "Tell it!"

I liked the PokeBall controller you could get to play Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee.  It only had one button so you could play the game with just one hand and make throwing motions with it to act like you're throwing Pokeballs.

One interesting fact about the Pokemon Stadium games is that the former president of HAL and Nintendo, Iwata, programmed these.  He pretty much saved Game Freak's butts on multiple occaisions.  Back when I was wriitng for The Dallas Morning News and covering everything Pokemon, Jeff and I went to a mall where they were doing a stage show showing off the new at the time Pokemon Stadium.  Since I was a press guest, they had me and Jeff go up on stage and play the game.  The audience down below kept cheering for our Pokemon and Jeff was grinning ear to ear!  He was about 6 at the time I think.

I reviewed The New Denpa Men.

Don't listen to the reviews, Mario & Luigi Brothership is actually really good.

I should probably play Undertale at some point...

Aw, man!  Zack & Wiki!  That is such an awesome game.  For such an early Wii title, Capcom really got the motion controls right.  It's one of the last times I felt like I was playing a "classic" Capcom game.  Lots of secrets and references to other Capcom games as well.  But boy is it hard!  Probably one of the hardest games I've ever beaten.  That next to last level is so hard!  Mainly because it's really long and you have to do it all in one go!

By the way, I saw this video and though of you:

You don't need an app to play these games.  Just scan the QR code and it takes you there.  I imagine it's just browser based.

Since I wrote that Minecraft article, I've gotten a few more things from them so in a couple of weeks there will be another article with some new stuff!

You don't play as the whale in Skies Above.  You just ride atop it while defending it from robots.

Cozy Land is just a virtual dollhouse with no goals and objectives.
