Thank God for Jim Sterling, and Open World BS.

While I agree with most of that video, there is an argument to be made that those of us who enjoy linearity (me) can still technically get what we want in some of these games. I might do some side quests in ME Catalyst now, but I completely ignored them in favor of story levels for several hours straight. I usually consider myself done with a game once the story is over, open world or no and the open world aspect doesn't usually hinder that for me.

Having said that, I'm much more interested in side quests in something like GTA V or Witcher III that have their own stories than I am in collecting trinkets like the one he discusses.

Thank God for Jim Sterling, and Open World BS.

With Witcher III, I'm fine with the open world stuff; what overwhelms me is the inventory. I'm fine with upgrade systems, but there's just so much to take into account. Every time I hit pause it's like opening an encyclopedia.

I Found a Box!

It would be heresy for there to be no boxes in a MGS game! Shame on 4 if that's the case!

Rangergirl finally joins the current console generation

I got TLG as a Christmas gift and it's damn pretty. I haven't played it as much just cause I've been playing through some games I bought on sale.

I'm trying to think of indie titles and RPGs that might suit your taste. I don't know how you feel about FFXV and Inside had gotten some good reviews. I bought Witcher III on sale a while ago, and you may enjoy the Polish lore in that, but I'm not sure about the action- based combat. I uninstalled it to make room for stuff I can get through more quickly like Shadow of Mordor, but I plan to go back; same with Bloodborne.

Weird about Netflix, I don't remember having to do that to get it working. Only annoying thing about video apps is Sony sending emails about "purchases" for $0.

I average about 7-8 games per console cycle and several are always gifts, but the freebies and deals with PS+ have made my library exponentially larger than usual. I understand not wanting it though.

I may pick up R&C soon since it is just $20.

I remember playing Injustice on iPad before buying console version, but I definitely liked console better/played it more.

Diablo Winding Up. Or Is It?

What gaming looks like at my house. Part 1

My physical collection is a lot less impressive.

My digital collection half the time makes me wonder when and why I bought all those games!

Not claiming to be a moral arbiter because of my concern over world/local events, just that seeing these things through the lens of MDD had a much different feel than it would have had it just been my every day anxiety/depression. That stuff sucks, but can be managed well enough with good habits, therapy, medication, etc. MDD is a bit of a different beast, at least the way I experienced it. It's exponentially more intense and difficult to fight.

I need to get back in the dating game, at least for some fun if nothing else.

I didn't do much gaming or tv at all in 2016 for the opposite reason. I couldn't enjoy it when I tried anyway. Anhedonia sucks. That's honestly part of why I went kind of insane with it these last two weeks. It feels like the first time eating after you've starved for months.

Help me develop a "Big Boss" workout. (calling all ex military, sports players, outdoorsmen, etc.)

Yeah, my friend from college is actually a kinesiology professor now and used to be a part-time trainer. He gave me some cool A/B day workouts I still use when I get back into things (A = bench, rows, squats, bicycle crunches; B = curls, overhead press, lunges, planks). To be honest, the only zuzkalight exercise I did was a 12-minute high-intensity fat loss exercise, which I did consistently.

December 2016 Recap

I think I might need to make sure I claimed all this month's PS4 games. I know I have Color Guard and Invisible Inc., but not sure about some others.

Still wish they just automatically put PS+ games in my library. Hated missing out on some gems this year cause I was too busy to think about claiming those "free" games I pay $50/year for.
