Nostalgic Vacation: 1984 - 1942

Posted on 09/15/2014 at 05:51 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I remember seeing 1942 EVERYWHERE in arcades back then.  Even our church had a 1942 machine in the Youth area many years later!  I appreciate the simplicity of it, but other than that I don't like it that much.  1943 on the other hand, is one of my all time favorite shootes.  Even the NES version is good!

Let's see if I can post a really cool picture.  Here goes:

Nostalgic Vacation: 1983 - Dragon's Lair

Surprisingly, the one on Game Boy Color is a direct port of the arcade game, just scaled back cleverly for the limited GBC hardware!

Nostalgic Vacation: 1983 - Dragon's Lair

This game was more fun to watch than to play, thanks to Don Bluth's animation.  He also did Space Ace. Dragon's Lair was a big deal in the arcades, though, as there wasn't anything like it at the time.  I never liked the laserdisc games, though.  Except Time Gal was amusing for some reason.

Retro Game of the Week: Pulseman

I would say I never played this since I never had a Genesis as a kid, but even if I had a Genesis back then, I still probably wouldn't have played this if it was only on the SEGA Channel.  I don't know anyone who was able to utiliize that thing.

It's a shame, though, as there were a lot of cool things on the SEGA Channel I hear.  Like Mega Man: The Wily Wars and a new Pengo game!

Have you ever played Drill Dozer on GBA?  That was another 2-D platformer by GameFreak, and it was pretty slick, too.

Smash Bro Demo Codes

I'm not as generous.  I gave my extra codes to a coworker and my brothers.

Mega Man is really cool, though.  But it is a reminder of how bad I stink at this game.  I still like it, though.  It's OK to like a game you're not good at, right?

Oh you like it, huh?  Just joking.  Thanks for reading and commenting on my stuff.

Anybody want a demo code for Smash Bros. 3DS

At first I was like, aw I missed getting a code.  But then I checked my email.  I gave the extra codes to my brothers, though.

It would be neat to collect arcade marquees to hang in a game room or bar or whatever.  I've only seen arcade cabinet shaped mint tins and Christmas ornaments.  I think they could do other things to market classic arcade cabients, too.

I just have to give you a hard time every now and then, because who else will? :)
