A Venician fish you caught while on a romantic boat ride? I wouldn't eat it, I hear the water there isn't exactly "purified."

Amazon on ComiXology and Recommendations

Posted on 04/17/2014 at 06:09 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I didn't know about this. While I'm cool with Amazon, I do worry about the fact only a few companies continue to borderline monopolize several markets. Combining that and the recent scientific study by Gilens and Page that says the U.S. is more oligarchic than ever paints a worrisome picture for the little guy, I think. Of course, obviously the little guy wanted the big guys' resources in this case, but that's ultimately part of the problem: much the way Comcast threatening to slow down Netflix unfairly places the advantage in the court of the already-haves, it could mean keeping have-nots less than competitive. I don't like the precedent a lot of these acquisitions set and have been setting.

D4VE sounds interesting, though.

As for Rat Queens, I do like subversive humor, but I never played D&D, and that last question of yours is loaded, because of course I like "awesome" anything. Tongue Out Having said that, this one sounds right up my alley.

I thank you for keeping it to only a couple recommendations that would be easy to catch up with. There are too many comics and TV series I want to watch, but simply don't have time for.

I'd say post a blog instead of commenting here, so more people see it.

RETROspective: Genesis Mascots

Posted on 04/17/2014 at 05:50 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I need to watch all the Sonic for Hire eps. with these mascots now.

I remember Vectorman because of a Lunchables tie-in mostly, but otherwise I only remember Sonic being apparent to me in childhood, cause we had SNES.

Would you consider Strider another Genesis mascot? I might, cause my friend Ernie from garde school named a police dog after him in a contest, and I don't remember Strider being on SNES.

I heard a lot more when Linkara starting doing his popular Power Rangers retrospective series. I know a lot of people who have learned about behind the scenes stuff from that. Poor Blue Ranger. Frown

He was in fact discussing neo-paganism. I just didn't remember him saying that until now because, well, just read what else I said about the interview. lol

I think you understand it fine, Ben. This kid was just nervous. They should have gotten you for the interview instead, or Larry or Tami.

Fuck the Ducks, I hope Jamie Benn and crew knock them out of the first round. Laughing

And yeah, I wish he had been more up to the challenge, cause I was interested. They had the Atheist, Agnostic, and Secular Humanist (A.A.S.H., which makes me wonder if it's not a play on a certain Catholic holiday/phrase about returning to where you came from in death) group on earlier in the semester, and apparently they did quite well. Score one for my team, I guess? lol

I need to watch a video of beep baseball.

Don't look at me, I wasn't in charge of getting anyone for this. I was just taking a break from my office, which is only down the hall from the TV station where the undergrads do these shows. lol As for the VP, I think he just froze when he realized "oh shit, I'm talking about not being a Judeo-Christian on a Nacogdoches, TX TV station." He was a bit of an oddball though, yeah ...

I've only played Okami on my friend's Wii.
