Keeping Myself in Check, Like the Mak Daddy Would

Posted on 04/15/2014 at 11:29 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Have you tried zero calorie options like Coke Zero or Diet Dr. Pepper? I rarely drink soda now, cause I've started to prefer water anyway (you'll get there after a while), but when I do indulge, I get zero calorie stuff.

I eat burgers all the time and stay within my calories. Burgers are actually one of the main things I eat, and if you're cooking these yourself Ben, you should be fine. It's only the extra stuff they add to restaurant burgers and the size of them that makes them so calorific. Usually, I'll get patties at the University caf that are 330, 22.

I do eat unhealthy every once in a while, but this is a special couple weeks where I was trying not to do it. Honestly, I don't really eat that healthy by many standards, I just stay within my calories and get my protein. Trust me, there's lots of burgers in that equation no matter what day it is, just not restaurant ones. lol

I'm barred from eating cereal though, cause they have too little protein for too many calories. I have eaten some Reese's Puffs when I've had room, though. I miss Cheerios. lol

I'm not saying someone who kills doesn't deserve to be on death row, I'm saying that there have been enough wrongly convicted death row inmates that I don't trust people to make that decision. That flawed justice system you speak of is too flawed for me to accept its decision on all-or-none matters like state-sponsored murder.

And honestly, I think amassing as big a psychological profile as we can on such people, while keeping them in prison for life, is a more long-term solution.

The problem then becomes making sure they stay behind bars and don't get out to repeat offenses, which I think could easily be done with tighter security around these people. We could stand to ease up on potheads and move some resources. Unless they're potheads who drive while high, which could also get someone killed.

But this is off-topic from your blog, all I was really trying to get at was that no one is just born evil or just "does evil." It's never that black and white. Hell, I could make a case that those evil cartoon villains wanting to take over the world think it's what's best for everyone. Of course, having known some people that think the world revolves them in real life ... I'm still against the death penalty, but I wouldn't cry at their funeral. *Ahem.*

Dawn of Sorrow released in North America on Ocober 5, 2005, according to Wikipedia. I would have been 15.

inFamous: Second Son Review

I'm so happy to see this getting a positive review, as it was the PS4 title I was most excited for at E3. I never played the other installments, but a fun action game set in Seattle sounds like a great time to me. Can't wait to buy myself a PS4.

I don't believe in the concept of pure evil, so while the recent ant-hero trend has been stale for some time now, I don't find "I want to take over the world and am evil for evil's sake" villains interesting at all.

Having said that, none of the villains you've presented here are pure evil. They all have mental illness or something else that justifies their actions from their perspective, no matter how crazy it might be to the rest of us. Like Matt said, even assholes are just people, and you haven't betrayed that fact here.

To me, pure evil is someone who does evil for evil's sake and knows what they are doing is wrong.  Even Hitler thought he was right or at least tried to justify it, as all "evil" people do.

Part of why I'm not a huge proponent of the death penalty is because it's ultimately a band-aid administered by vengeful people. What we consider "evil" needs to be studied more closely if we want to stop "evil" or what I'd just call awful people from committing atrocious acts, I think.

Well of course it's not going to help me, but that's not the point.
