The gameplay was different, but Konami was doing something like this with their characters with the Wai Wai World games on Famicom.

I just figured I died a lot in the Transformers game because I'm not very good at that type of game.

Thanks for the 'upadates.' :)

When I was listing my categories for Best Games of 2012, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron won my 'best 3-D adventure' category.  I'm not really very good at third person shooters, but I really got into that game.  That's a Transformers game done right.  Forget Hollywood, Fall of Cybertron is how Transformers should be.

The Tomb Raider artbook I recently reviewed was also well done.

I Wish I Reviewed Games *sigh*

Posted on 05/05/2013 at 01:58 PM | Filed Under Blogs

A 'talking to,' huh?  Well I hate to disappoint, sooooo... (cue DKC Cranky Kong music)

You know if you had asked me about ten years ago, I would've had all sorts of positive advice to give you about being a game reviewer.  But after the dot.com bubble burst and everything kind of went down the crapper for my professional game revieweing dreams, I'm not as positive as I once was.

So why am I still reviewing games?  Well, because I'm too stupid and stubborn to quit.  I don't really get too many games to review before the release date, and I also have to review a lot of things others wouldn't even touch, like Monster High: Skulltimate Roller Maze, for instance.  You gotta take the good with the bad.

You can wish to review games all you want, but if you really want to do it, you just have to get started!  Don't expect to get early copies of games right away, and you probably won't get paid for your work either.  But I MIGHT be able to help you get started, so expect a PM from me here shortly.

And speaking of Animal Crossing, here's an article that you might like that I just wrote.

Sorry about that.  The PS Slim was pretty cool.  About the size of a Schlotzky's sandwich, too!

Retro Game of the Week: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Posted on 05/05/2013 at 12:56 PM | Filed Under Blogs

My brother Jeff was very little when Power Rangers came out, and he had a Power Rangers poster on his wall above his bed.  One night before bedtime he was pointing to the characters on the poster and saying who they were.  The Pink Ranger was Mommy, the Red one was his Daddy, and Jeff was the Green one.  When I asked him which one I was, Jeff just paused and thought for a second and said, "Um, you're the robot."  I hope he meant I was the super cool giant robot, and not the little silly one!  Ha!
