Bottomless Pit - Kid Icarus

Posted on 05/18/2020 at 12:41 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Kid Icarus Uprising, while not feeling like a sequel to 1 or 2, laid a damn strong groundwork I wish Nintendo could build upon. Give a sequel analog/motion controls, platforming on land and keep the production values and the franchise could be pretty popular.

A bit of Frogger trivia

I actually preferred this game to every SNES RPG except Chrono Trigger. I liked the combat's fast, fluid pace and ways you can customize auto battle and prefer its comic book storytelling to FF or DQ's sticking with those tiny sprites to tell it. This was also one of those few RPGs where you actually felt the sting of a character dying in combat. Alys' boomerang was so useful and battles went by slower after she was gone.

Wish Sega made more traditional PS games or RPGs in general, this and Skies of Arcadia are two of my favorite JRPGs ever

Oh and future Cage Match ideas:

Sly 3: Band of Thieves vs Mass Effect 2: Both games about recruiting a team of specialists to prepare for a final mission

Bloodstained vs Bloodborne: Because I still get these confused if I randomly hear them and I say this as a huge fan of both

Alien vs Predator Arcade versus Marvel vs Capcom: The name of this one just makes me laugh

Stage Select

Wind Waker Title Theme- The first time I played the game I let the title screen just play out.

Pokemon XY Bicycle Theme- I could do a top five list for this Stage Select that's nothing but Pokemon bicycle themes and be completely satisfied. I don't know how, but each game Game Freak captures the sense of freedom and fun of riding your bike new places as a kid. Honorable mentions go to Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphires's

Cage Match:

The two would be evenly drawn, Michaelangelo and Donatello would get tired beating up Homer who can take a beating, Raphael would get annoyed by Bart until he'd threaten him causing Bart to skateboard away, and Leonardo would cut up Marge's vacuum bag, making her run to get a new one and Lisa's jump rope, making her cry. Seeing her family in trouble, Maggie then takes out the gun she shot Mr Burns with to finish off the turtles. Simpsons win.

I just rewatched all of Community and the show just lends itself so well to binging and revisiting it. Theres a lot of fun things like how Britta is still full of shit in seasons 1 and 2, but no one realized it back then

Retro Review: Contra Hard Corps

I definitely prefer this to 3 for being a pure sidescroller without those weird Mode 7 levels. Though I prefer Metal Slug to Contra, I still enjoy these games

I prefer the SNES to the Genesis, but I'd give the edge to Sega for the mini versions. It has more stinkers overall and doesn't quite hit the SNES' peaks, but theres still more good games on there than Nintendo has an I'm not a fan of every SNES Classic game either.

Not a fan of those head to head videos. Love the idea but those two guys keep interrupting the reviews with some really unfunny jokes and gags.

This is my favorite of the classic Castlevania games. I also love that it ties into Bram Stoker's Dracula
