I picked up a few new things today. I got some music from the library for my 1970 Metal playlist and I bought some comic trades, both pictured below.

The music from the library: James Gang's second album, Rides Again, with their single hit song Funk 49 and The Stooges Fun House. These albums had the Hard Rock tag on wiki. Since there were so few albums with the Metal tag, I included them to make a better playlist. I've never heard the Stooges album. That should be interesting.

Then I picked up vol 1 and 2 of Black Science by Rick Remender and Matteo Scalera. I wanted something fun and modern after reading about the holocaust in Maus. I've read vol 1 of Black Science in single issues a year or so ago, but I thought I'd better revisit it before reading vol. 2.

That's about it for today. Tomorrow I'm going game hunting for Shiren The Wanderer on DS and maybe Neir on Xbox 360. I may pick up some more music from a library I'm going to pass by as well.

I have Black Science sitting in my massive pile of trades that I want to read.  Along with another Remender series, Fear Agent.

Fear Agent is really great. I only read the last handful of issues of it though. I'd like to read that whole series sometime.

The Stooges were pretty advanced for their time. Not only of the prototype Metal bands, but I think they are very much the first Punk band.

I saw them do the song "Bored" on Old Grey Whistle Test and that's about all I've heard of them. That song stuck with me though. It expresses boredom pretty well.

The issues I read were pretty good. Rick writes these "heroes" with a lot of flaws. It's an interesting twist.

Nier's music was awesome.  I didn't get very far into the game.  It was kind of ugly, but it had some good things going for it.  Drakengard 3 was kind of a tie-in to Nier story-wise, but it think it was only on PS3.

Nier has come up various times this year in various places. I think I'm sold already. I just have to find a copy.

I finally went back to the library last week after a six month hiatus. Their graphic novel section had shrunk by about a third in that time, which made me very sad Frown I was still able to pick up a couple things though. Maybe I'll talk about those as I read them. Need to get back to blogging.

Each library has their own collection based on who's ordering their stock. I have libraries in my area I know are good for comics and others for music. I search online my whole county, and a few just outside it, for different media. I've been pretty lucky with comics so far, at least the celebrated ones. I got Batman Dark Knight Returns, Watchman, V for Vendetta, From Hell and Maus all from libraries.

Black Science? Isn't that racist? =P

sorry I got nothing else to comment on/to. I'll just move along now...

It just refers to them really messing up reality with their interdimensional travel machine. These "heroes" aren't exactly the spotless examples of moral behavior you expect them to be.
