Busy, busy little rangergirl!

Work's been keeping me busy and very tired. We had our annual bird watching festival the last weekend in April (was that really just a week ago?!) and most of my time was spent getting the park looking decent for that and getting the plumbing issues sorted out so we could open the bathroom building in time for the festival. I can now say with no hint of uncertainty: I do not want to be a plumber when I grow up. I replaced the tank bolts in two toilets, replaced the tank to bowl gaskets for both of them at the same time because the old ones fell apart as I was wrestling with getting the old bolts removed, and fixed a couple of leaks from various valves. I was less successful up at HQ - the leaky sprayer in the kitchen sink was a pain to remove and then getting the parts to plug it off permanently was problematic at best. I thought I had it fixed, but when I checked for leaks today, the bucket I put under it was half full. It'll be back under the mouse-infested sink tomorrow. Could be worse, could have had a toilet explode and embed porcelain shrapnel in my forehead like the maintenance mechanic last week. Who knew plumbing could be so dangerous?

Because I've been so busy at work, I haven't really done much other than come home, walk the dog, make and eat dinner and crash in the middle of whatever I happen to be watching on TV. I did manage to get to a few spot pass locations for the International Street Pass Event. That was fun. On one of my days off, I grabbed Jason and we hit a couple of McDonalds and a Best Buy. Other than that, my 3DS hasn't seen much action. I did start Bravely Default while waiting in the parking lot for Jason to get out of work one night, but forgot to turn off my 3DS and haven't thought to charge the battery since then. Yesterday, Jason and I wanted to go out for brunch, but our favorite local diner was closed, so we went to Topsham to one of our other favorite local places. It just happens to be a few doors down from Game Box Video Games, so of course I had to go in. Found a copy of Jade Empire for original Xbox to replace my missing copy and picked up the Zone of the Enders HD Collection for my PS3. And had fun talking to my favorite employee while making my purchases. Played a little of ZoE yesterday afternoon, but haven't had time to get back to it. I discovered the ants are back in my kitchen and ended up scrubbing all the surfaces down and making sure all my dishes were clean. I hate when adult responsibility rears its ugly head!

I missed Comic Book Day, but consoled myself with reorganizing the comics I thought were lost for good until I found them in a plastic tote at my grandmother's in the basement. I have a lot of Daredevil comics. I also have a lot of Doc Savage comics, but those span several decades and publishers. I also have the only X-Men/New Teen Titans crossover ever put out.

I'm going to end this, it's 11:00 PM and the alarm goes off at 5:30 AM. Until next time, Pixlbit Nation!

Jade Empire was on my list to play a few weeks back. Didn't get to it though and now I have a new list. I'll get to it though. Actually, I played it way back when but never finished it. I got stuck on this one part fighting on a beach, I think.

I never got a chance to play it before it disappeared along with a bunch of my other games, so I was doubly angry. My copy of P3 FES disappeared at the same time.

I hate when that happens.

Indeed.

Square should've just called Bravely Default a Final Fantasy game, because that's basically what it is.  Still a bit too long and meandering for me, though.  I never did finish it.

I don't get into comic books, but I went to the comic book store for Free Comic Book day so my brother could get more freebies.  I did buy an Uncle Scrooge comic book there, though.

I like those long, meandering rpgs.

I grew up with comic books. Whenever we'd take a road trip, my mom would buy us comic books. When I was really little, one comic book publisher used to sell multipacks in plastic bags (Gold Key, maybe?), I think there might have been three to a bag. Most of them were kind of lame, I usually wanted Batman or Tarzan or something else with superheroes, but I was always happy with whatever I got.

So we're not going to see a PlumberGirl name change? Tongue Out

I dug Jade Empire. I wish I was able to complete it before my old X-Box decided to retire. You're getting more use out of your 3DS than I am. I think I played 20 minutes of it last week while getting the oil replaced on the truck.

No. Most definitely NOT. I gave up and called the one maintenance mechanic who is also a licensed plumber and he's going to come to the park tomorrow and (hopefully) fix the leak under the sink and the leak under the building that we just discovered this morning. And maybe the leaks in the shut off valves in the bathrooms in the park. I forgot to mention that I also replaced the elbows under the sinks in the park bathrooms, too.

arg fucking ants.  They invade here about once a year.

I really want to get into Zone of the Enders.  My japanese gaming has taken a hit.

I think I may hate ants more than any other insect. Ticks don't count, they're arachnids. I hate them more than any other arachnid.

ZoE is fun. I had the first one on for PS2, but that one disappeared at the same time as Jade Empire and KOTOR and a bunch of my other games.

I hate messing with toilets.  Fixing them is easy.  It's getting it done that's a nightmare sometimes. At least that's my experience with them. Laughing

It took me far longer to get the rusted old bolts off than to put the new ones on and replace the gaskets. I finally had to go borrow a Sawzall from another park to get the last bolt cut off. Then everything went back together so easily that I was convinced I'd done something wrong.

I had to completely replace a toilet a few months back.  Thank goodness I didn't have to cut anything.  Taking it apart and getting it out was quick.  Changing the bolts, scraping out the old wax ring, and installing the new toilet felt like forever.  Toilets aren't complex, yet time flies by when dealing with them.

are they working you ragged without any additional help or support teams? Seems to be the story I'm hearing from those working at the moment.

Our crew comes back on a staggered basis, but there are only five of us during the height of the season, and only three before mid-May. We're all over-worked, under-paid, and under-staffed, but that's business as usual working for any park system.
