A Mess of Music and a New TV

I went a little nuts this week with music. I'll have to reign it in a little bit somehow in the future, but for now I'm happy with it. And I finally got a current gen capable TV. 32 inch, 1080p with HDMI ports. I'm ready for any of the new systems I want to get. I got it for $200 at Best Buy. At that price, I couldn't say no. I went there initially because my 3DS told me a special Mii was going to be there this weekend. I'll take a look at that later tonight. So here are pics of all the stuff.

Half show above are library finds and half bargain purchases at Barnes & Noble. Two fit my 1984 playlist: Deep Purple's Perfect Stranger and The Cars' Heartbeat City. The rest are for earlier playlists like the NIck Drake albums, a Fairport Convention album, Shostakovich symphony 14 and George Crumb pieces. And, oh yea, some Julian Bream classical guitar (or maybe he plays lute on this one). Whoops, and also David Gilmore's first solo album. I couldn't pass that up even though I was looking for his 1984 About Face one.

Then today I went to my used record store and got a bunch of CDs and vinyl, all from 1984.

I was looking hard for soundtracks. I found Repo Man, Revenge of the Nerds and The Woman in Red. Then I got Missing Persons Rhyme & Reason, Jethro Tull's Under Wraps, and Hall & Oats' Big Bam Boom.

Then I went to Best Buy for the special street pass weekend and looked at TVs. I found one with HDMI ports, 1080p, 60Hz picture and a reasonable size of 32 inches, on sale for under $200. I couldn't resist. Then, because I'm a slave to consumerism, I went back to Barnes & Noble and picked up the last few 1984 titles I knew they had in their bargain area.

That's Van Halen's 1984, Prince's Purple Rain, and Talking Heads Stop Making Sense there at the bottom.

It was a very good week for music, and also gaming, because I now have a TV for the new systems, whenever I decide to jump on that. Wii-U, I'm looking at you right now.

It's still in it's packaging. Just like my turntable. I'm going to have a whole house full of still wrapped things soon.
