Rare Replay

So I just heard this compilation of 30 Rare games will be available August 4th. I'm real excited and I think I'll get an Xbox One finally to have this, but I'm wondering, will it be available as a digital download? I've looked all around and I can't find out. I'm seriously considering going all digital downloads for games on the new systems. It'll save space in my apartment already crammed with games, plus I'm ready. I bucked the idea of digital download for games for a while but now I don't think I care anymore. It's just the way the world is going, and I just want to play the games. I don't care if I can touch them or not.

I can't imagine them NOT letting you download it.  They make more money that way.  I'm sure it's both.  I'd rather have it on a disc, but Rare Replay is certainly a game that makes the Xbox One a little more tempting.

I don't know why, but doing everything digital on the current systems just appeals to me despite my previous feelings. Maybe it's the last few years of free games with gold and great sales on Xbox Live that have changed my mind. The wizards of business have converted me, darn them.

That game in particular sounds like digital download only to be honest.

That's what I thought it would be. It was presented like an online store or something like Capcom's Arcade Cabinet. I think I want it that way too. I'm kinda done with discs.

Well, maybe not given what KnightDriver said. But you can get Destiny digitally and even the demo for that game is utterly massive! I don't have many physical games and in fact none of my games from last generation (on Steam, since I never owned those consoles) are physical and Arkham Knight is the only physical copy of a PS4 game I have.

Hum. . . Well, I'll wait another week and see if there's more details on Rare Replay. If it is going to be digital too, I may do that.

If it is a digital download it will be a large one. 5 of the games are Xbox 360 games weighing in at over 26 GB total. Sure some of the others are small but count on over 30 GB.

With my 100 GB a month download cap that would be completely out to lunch so I'd go with physical.

Besides I've now begun to wonder what happens to my digital content once the company stops supporting the platform and discontinues the hardware. Since we only actually license it they are well within their rights to cut us off completely.

Good point about the size of the download. I may have to go preorder it at Gamestop then right along side Etrian Odyssey Untold 2 coming out the same day.

I guess I'm most excited by Conker's Bad Fur Day. There's also a feature that takes bits from many of the games into a special challenge mode like NES Remix. That's super cool!

Yeah, still not sure I'd want to do all digital dowloads if I were to get a PS4 or Xbox One, but I am starting to do that with retro games on the Wii and Wii U.  I too am limited on space in my house and I just don't need physical copies of everything.  Just isn't practacle for my situation.  Plus, it beats paying high prices for common games.

The hard drive space is an issue, now I think of it. However, the account remembers what you bought and you can download it when you need it. That's something. Price is the ultimate determinant though. If I can get the physical copy for cheaper, I'll do that. I do the same with music.

From what I heard it's 30 bucks for a physical copy and that's a damn good price. Almost makes me want to buy a used Xbone to play it. But only almost.

That's a great price and I love compilations. I'll buy it even if I don't get an Xbox One by then.

I'm hoping it eventually comes to PC, as there are some games from this collection that I haven't tried (some I already have on 360)... *looks at list again* COBRA TRIANGLE! HECK YEAH! Still hoping for the PC release.

You would think so since MS is trying to merge pc with Xbox as much as possible.

I just realized I have a compilation game for PSP called EA Replay. Way to be original.

I think there will be a physical copy.  They are selling 30 games for $30.  It would take up too much space on a download.  If it was going to be seperate, they'd just sell the games seperately.  Make more money off of them that way too.  I think MS came up with this to get more people on their console.  It's a good idea.  I'll probably buy the Rare collection, but it's too late for me to buy an XB1 anytime soon.  I'll pick one up in a couple of years or so.

Makes sense. I'll preorder the disc. I just heard too that they may add more games to it in the future.

After a while I finally jumped on board the digital game wagon and honestly I'm getting use to it it still isn't as good as actual games but its growing on me..

KnightDriver

Exactly, it's growing on you. Just like it grew on me. The geniuses at the various game pubishers have done their job in converting us all. They roll out a lot of free, or cheap games, and we're all converted. Welcome to the new generation of virtual property. I shed a tear for the old times, the piles of discs, and closets full of systems and games. . . and then I'm kinda relieved.

Yes but I need a 59 gig PC to save them all lol!!

I get that. I'm thinking that 1TB drive on the new Xbox One's is not going to last long. Luckily they support external hard drives.
