Checking off the Challenges in Gat Out of Hell
Played a bunch more of Saints Row Gat Out of Hell on Monday. Mark and I completed another of the three tricky Salvation challenges. This is the one where you have to be a good flyer and pick up as many falling and rising souls as you can within a time limit. I learned better use of the "x" button for slowing yourself down and the left trigger for hovering. There's only one more Salvation challenge left and it's the hard one right in the middle of the industrial island where smoke stacks are in your way. We'll get it though.
I finished all the weapon challenges. There's just a few more weapon related achievements to do. I've also finished all of the challenges related to your magic abilities (I forget what they're called at the moment. Auras, I think). I still have to collect all ten of the Sinful Souls (darn it. I forget what the actual name of those things are right now). They are like the Soul Clusters but are inside a rare Husk (that's the denizens of this hell that look a lot like zombies). Once you knock the soul out of the Husk it takes off for a Soul Drain, which is an actual drain that lights up in certain places on the map. You have to move fast to catch it, or wait by the drain (and hope it is the right one) and then hit "y" when it's close to perform a special kill on it. I think I'm at 6 of 10 so far. What causes them to appear is a mystery to me, but Mark seems to be doing something because they always appear in the area he's fighting in and I have to fly half way across the map to go get it before it drains.
I should mention that in co-op Mark and I stay clear of each other most of the time. We did the main story mission together but after that it was staying out of each other's way in order to do the many challenges related to numbers of kills. We did get together for the missions where you become one of the husks and have to throw yourself at cars to create mayhem though. There's an achievement to bounce off five cars without hitting the ground. That proved pretty tricky and we didn't get it yet.
The night got cut a little short because another friend of mine was in town and we went to see Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. It was a fine action flick. A little predictable at times, but good. We went to a theater that has big recliner seats. It's the only one in my area and so I think I'll be going to that theater a lot in the next few weeks.
