Silent Pinball Mayhem Untold

Started the day with a lovely egg bagel sandwich and coffee from Einstein Bros. Bagels.

Then I went over to Gamestop and picked up Silent Hill HD Collection for Xbox 360 so I can play Silent Hill 2 on Halloween.

Then I went to my friend Mark's place and gave him copies of Homefront and Mayhem 3D I picked up at Jay St. Video Games the other day for $4 each. Mark started in on Homefront right away and got past where I was pretty quickly. There's a robot ATV you can control. I watched him do that and can't wait to try it out for myself. The second copy of Mayhem 3D was practically new and it had two pairs of 3D glasses. I thought the 3D in the title was just to say it was a 3D world, like they did in the 90s for a lot of Playstation One games. I thought it was a little out of date, but it seems the game is actually rendered in real 3D. I tried it out and it's really cool. I think I actually drove better with the depth increased to maximum.

I noticed a sale on tables for Pinball FX2, so I played some of that and bought the Portal table and Iron and Steel Pack. I'm really not good at pinball. I thought about reading the rule sheet for each game, but I wasn't in the mood. So I didn't even get close to Rangergirl's scores on the tables I played.

Then I went to a family dinner and after that saw Hotel Transylvania 2 in 3D. I loved the first one and the second one didn't disappoint. It was great. The jokes are funny throughout and I love the monster designs and the whole look of the movie. I really want to play an open world game in this movie's environment and art design. Wayforward did a 3DS game for the first one I may pick up tomorrow. I don't see one for consoles but I wish they'd do one.

Right now I'm playing a little bit of Etrian Odyssey Untold 2. I'm not far into it yet, but I'm loving it just the same.

Tomorrow will be a full day of gaming, I'm sure. I'm gonna try and use my movie 3D glasses on Mayhem 3D. They're much more comfortable than the cardboard ones that came with the game but I'm not sure they use the same technology.

Tooddle bye.

I watched Hotel Transylvania on Netflix.  It was all right, but not worth going to see it in a theater.  I'll probably do the same with the sequel, just wait until it hits Netflix.

I love the HT movies. They're written by Adam Sander and Robert Smigel (who did TV Funhouse for SNL). It looks like HT2 did very well at the box office, so it looks like there will be a third movie. Yeah!

"Mayhem Untold" would be a great band name.

"untold" is a funny word to use. Only in Japanese games. The funny one in western games is "reckoning". There's several of those too.

I tend to enjoy Microsoft's Pinball Arcade more than I do Pinball FX 2.  I love the Star Wars and Marvel tables I have, but the physica on them just don't feel quite right.

Pinball FX2 is pretty good, but the best pinball simulators came from the Pro Pinball series (Timeshock, Big Race USA, Fantastic Journey).

I'd like to try those. On Playstation One, right?

Yea, those two are very different experiences. FX2 plays really fast. The people who do Pinball Arcade on XBLA and PSN (Farsight Studios) are much more about simulating real tables. I find FX2 challenging. The tables are shorter and you have less time to react. Sometimes there's so much going on on them, you can't see the ball clearly.

I kind of wish Nintendo and Zen would collaborate on some Nintendo-themed tables for the Wii U version of Zen Pinball, but that's asking waaaay too much. :)

Capcom and Zen teamed up to make a Street Fighter table.  I want them to do that again and make Mega Man pinball!

That'd be excellent.

Now that's a cool idea. I'd love to see that.

Those scores you put up are crazy good. I gotta study the rule sheet to get even close to your scores.

Which tables were you playing? That Moonknight score was a total fluke that I've never managed to come close to again.

I played Castlestorm, Wild West Rampage and Portal. I wanted to buy all the ones I didn't have, but they've added so many since I last checked, I stuck to just those three this time.

I did watch the first Hotel Transylvania on theater. I really did like the physical/screwball comedy and animation, the art designs and the cutie known as Mavis, but much of the other comedy was hit-or-miss, it had some of the annoying cliches that plague a considerable number of modern animated movies and I felt Genddy Tartakovsky would have done much better things with the direction but the executives enforced him to follow strict rules that lead to the cliches seen. Don't get me wrong, I liked it but it wasn't very special, though I did watch it dubbed in Spanish, so maybe it could be a bit better in english.

I would have watched the second by now, but it's only avaiable dubbed on every theater.

I found even the cliched stuff funny. Somehow, for me, it came across as cute rather than "oh that boring joke again".
