I had a pretty good day today. Mark and I took a trip to the Mall, saw some Nintendo stuff, got some Skylanders and had some Chick-fil-a. Then we returned to his place and played Starship Troopers - oops - I mean, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, perhaps for the last time.
The Mall trip was mainly so Mark could spend his birthday money. We walked into Jay Street Video Games, and he got the starter kit for Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. I'm so mad I didn't think of going to Jay Street to look for that, but I actually made out, because it was $25 whereas I spent probably $15 piecing it together at Gamestop. Still, I like that box it comes in. I saw the starter kit for the 3DS version of that game. I was really tempted, but it was also $25, and I thought that was a bit much.
Then we went downstairs to hit Gamestop and its sale on Skylanders figures, but on the way, we saw a Nintendo presentation in the central area. It had kiosks where you could play all the big games out right now, and I was given a Nintendo Holiday Gift Guide. They had Skylanders SuperChargers, so I took a closer look at that to see what I was getting into. I liked what I saw.
Then we each got five Skylanders figures at Gamestop on their buy-2-get-3-free sale. Since I was with Mark, I didn't want to hunt hard for the ones on my list and waste a lot of time, so I just grabbed a bunch of Swap Force characters I liked and hoped some of them would be on my list. See pic below:
Jolly Bumble Blast, Countdown, Night Shift, Eruptor Lava Barf, Hoot Loop
Then we got some Chick-fil-a and went back to his place where the gaming rigs are. I thought I'd play some Inferno Mode in EDF: IA with my Battle Armor and see what randoms popped in to help. No one dropped by, so I played a level with the bots. Then Mark got interested and jumped in for a level and a random showed up. I think we finished Chapter 2, level 3 before I really wanted to play something less sweat enducing. So Mark hosted on Hard difficulty, and I brought in my Tactical Armor to level him up. We did that the rest of the day. I got my 25K kills and 250 Revives achievements.
I began looking at what achievements were next. To buy every weapon for an Armor takes at least 500K credits, which is a lot. I think I earned 150K credits over the whole day today. The achievement for leveling an Armor to max rank 8 also requires a lot of Inferno Mode play, which, as I've mentioned, is a real task. So I'm starting to see that maybe the rest of the achievements take more grinding than I want to do. I don't know though, it's still really fun to play. I do want to move on though. I have to think about it some more.
Next week it would be cool to start Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure since Mark has it too now. It could be a Skylanders Xmas for real. We'll see.

I was thinking about the fact you brought that up in your blog when I read KnightDriver talking about it. Too bad I missed the ones in DFW area, I believe I was working. I commented on your GamerDad post I think, as Professor Carlton or something stupid like that. lol
I don't really like grinding achievements that much. To me it feels like the game telling me how long I haven't been outside. I still remember when I got a trophy in Melee for playing a ridiculous number of hours of the game. lol
As I mentioned, I'm jealous you got a Nintendo event near you and got to go (especially to be randomly surprised by one!). That's cool your buddy has Skylanders as well now.
I've heard there's a rare Pokemon you can get through Street Pass right now. I'm playing a PSP game right now, so I didn't have my 3DS with me.
I've been wanting to get into Skylanders for years, but didn't want to pay $15 for each figure. Now I can get dozens of them.
