Is Xenoblade Chronicles X Good or BaD?

I've been trying to get into XCX for the last couple of weeks but it just hasn't grabbed me the way the first game did.

The environment looks nice but there are some things that really irritate me.

First of is the silent protagonist who you create at the beginning of the game. He's not really a character and unlike Shulk in the original he doesn't add to the story or do anything other than nod.

Next is all the freekin' talking. I feel like it's taking to long to get anywhere.

Then  the battle system is pissing me off and while it was mild in the first game It bugs me much more here. I find myself frequently cancelling out of battles while enemies continue to pummel me. I'm still not sure what attacks do what yet.

I dunno, it doesn't seem to have the soul that the Wii game had. Maybe it will grow on me but right now it just doesn't hold my interest.

Have a panda. In fact take 14, they're very small.

I really do not like the soundtrack, it does not fit the game at all. Have you tried using the conversation board yet? That part doesn't make any sense to me. I have to admit , the WII XC is way better. I'm going keep playing and maybe we can do some online play.

Yeah after you mentioned it I listened to the soundtrack and it doesn't make any sense to me. If I can get to the point where it lets me play on-line I shall attempt to hook up with you.

that big panda on the left needs to be washed!

I dunno, I was talking to Nick the other day about this, and Larry was complaining about it too.  It seems like the new Xenoblade just isn't grabbing people and is also overwhelming at the same time.

I don't know, I never got into the first one, but the silent protagonist thing kind of turns me off.

Overwhelming is another good word for it.

Ps. What do you use to post pictures on here?

The one above is just a url I got from googling images of baby pandas. Usually though I upload to photobucket then grab the URLs from there.

I use flickr. Works great once you figure out the exact way to share on other sites. It's a little bit unintuitive.

Don't feel bad. It hasn't grabbed me either. It's just too expansive and I'm having a hard time connecting to the characters and the plot. I agree about the silent protagonist - it doesn't work well here and is certainly no stand in for Shulk.

I'm going to keep hacking away at it. But it's certainly not what I expected.

Nick, I had such hi hopes for this game, now I am having a hard-time grinding on it.

Silent protagonists are a big point of contention for me. Having a voiced character was the main reason I bought Fallout 4. But I still really want to spend some time with this one. The question is when I will have the time...

I started playing XCX yesterday. I just want bigger text (subtitles are fine, but the rest of the text in general is small), and a soundtrack menu (to turn off the BGM that I don't like).

I was thinking about getting the game.  I guess I should hold off on it, huh? Undecided

No, I would get it. I honestly really do not like the Sound-Track to the game. I think it does not fit it at all. I guess I really miss the Monado.

Storywise, the original is better, but that's not to say the story in X is bad. It gets better once you reach Chapter 5. On a gameplay level, I think X takes the cake though. Just wait till you get a Skell. And yes, the game is massive. If you're out and about, if you target an enemy before attacking, if it has an eye icon next to it's nane, it'll attack you if you run near it. Avoid anything 5-99 levels higher than your level.

Can't help you with Xenoblade, but I do dig pandas because I think they're hilarious. I saw a show I think on National Geographic about how pandas are raised and in China they have show pandas that they bring around to schools and events.

That's a bummer, hopefully you'll find something about the game that holds your interest soon.

That sucks, that game looked awesome. I like having a voiced character as well, especially one I don't identify with like in GTA III.

The only thing i'm going to say is this: i'm not touching this game on its current state/release. That's all i'm going to say for now.
