BaD Thirteen: Bye to Mario & Luigi

I think I might be done with Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. I'm stuck trying to get to Bowser's Castle. You can't go across the rope bridge 'cause some monsters throw you off it, and I've searched every part of the map for alternate routes or some clue as to how to get past them. I suppose I would persist if I felt more positive about the game, but I'm kinda bored with it. It's a very light RPG with all the stats applied for you. You can wear equipment, but I haven't come across anything new in a while. The battles are pretty easy. I mean, I like the new special attacks and all, but I'm pretty much mopping the floor with everything I meet. The other thing is that the world seems a bit empty. There are a few wandering monsters, some platforming, and some obstacles, but very quickly the maps are empty of things to do and you just run through them. I don't know. I guess the game just isn't grabbing me. I think I might return to my backlog. I got so much stuff I'd like to play and trade to reduce my collection to manageable size.

That's too bad, doesn't sound like any fun.

It's some fun, just not fun enough.

I just beat Paper Jam the other day.  I think it's better than Sticker Star and Dream Team, but not any better than the others.  Mario RPGs are supposed to have fun mini-games but the ones in Paper Jam kinda suck.

I was ok with the mini games, but they weren't anything special. I really liked the two screen battles/mini games in Dream Team.

The two-screen battles and mini-games in Bowser's Inside Story were handled much the same way as Dream Team, but I found Bowser's game much more fun.  You should try it if you haven't already.

I still need to START it O_O No shame in moving on to something else when you have so many things to play. It's about having fun, after all.

If only I had that mindset, and not a semi-completionist one.

Too bad everyone is kinda down on Paper Jam.

It's not horrible. It's just not great.

I hate getting stuck in a game, wandering the world looking for something I missed, not finding it, then thinking about whether I want to go find a walkthrough. It's that moment of needing to look up a walkthrough, that I think about whether I want to continue with a game.

I say there's no shame in moving on to another game but I have the hardest time doing it myself. Like, I started The Walking Dead back in October but only got through the first episode and haven't had a chance to go back to it yet. I think out that all the time lol.

I guess it really depends on the game for me. Like there's certain games I haven't finished that I really, really want to finish. One be Skyrim, another be Uncharted 3, and on and on.

It's really not bad. I guess I'm just in the mood for something more complex right now.
