BaD Fourteen: GBA Blast

I pulled out my DS and started going through some GBA games. The original DS has a GBA slot. I have a GBA, but the screen is much brighter on the DS.

So I played some Contra Advance, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and Pinball of the Dead. I played Contra on the SNES with my buddy Mark way back when. It's ok on GBA, but the screen's kinda small and the controls just feel much better on the old SNES controller. I moved on to Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. I fell in love with this game when the HD Remix came out on XBL some years ago. Then I picked up the GBA version. It's fine, but on such a small screen it's kind of a chore to play it. I could pop it in my GBA player on my Gamecube to play it on the big screen, but I have the HD Remix for that. Onward to Pinball of the Dead. This game looks pretty dark cool. Again, though, I'd like to see it on the big screen. It seems to play very well. Pinball physics are well executed and the graphics are very detailed and gory when you slam your ball into zombies. Me likey.

I loved the GBA.  Even though Puzzle Fighter is one of my favoirte puzzlers, I didn't like it on the GBA because the screen was so small.  I can't recall any really good pinball games on the GBA (Sonic's Pinball Party was kind of decent), but Metroid Prime Pinball on the DS was very good.

I'm having some trouble with the screen size too right now. I'm considering setting aside all my GBA games to play on my Gamecube's Gameboy Player instead. I just have to find the time to do console gaming at home during the work week. Time's kinda tight.

I don't know if I still have my ds.  I'd like to play final fantasy 5 or 6 gba.

I'd love to play those. I'm starting with the shortest games in my collection right now though. Those be down the list a ways.

I love Contra but I passed on Contra Advance when I found out it was just an unbalanced mishmash of Contra III and Hard Corps Frown

Ha. Interesting. I didn't know that. Probably because I only played it like 15 minutes. I kind of prefer turn-based games on handheld.

That slot is one of the reasons why I always think about buying a DS at GameStop (the other is because I have Guitar Hero with that funky button add-on). I love Super Puzzle FIghter and its a shame that the one of the few games I bought digitally on the PSP isn't available on the Vita.

I'm finding the DS screen kinda small for GBA games lately, especially this one Mech Platoon I was playing. I think I'm going to use my Gameboy Player on my Gamecube so I can play these on my TV.
