Hey, I'm back after an extended blogcation. It's been nearly 2 weeks since I even visited this site, and I don't even know why. I actually don't remember those two weeks taking place, which is kind of weird, but such is the passage of time.

Anyway, I'm here to talk about some shit, so some shit I will talk about

DAREDEVIL SEASON 2

So I binged Daredevil in a bit over a day. Passive media usually struggles to keep my interest, so this is impressive. This season was so good! The Punisher was the best on screen Punisher ever, and whenever he was on screen he was the best fucking thing on screen. Seriously, this portrayal of Frank Castle stole the fucking show.

Naturally, with The Fucking Punisher on screen, it was a lot more violent. We're talking throat slits that have game of thrones levels of details, drills going through body parts, torture, a prison fight that gave Gareth Evans an earth shattering orgasm, and more Oldboy worship than I know what to do with. The action scenes were some of the best I've seen.

But even better the action were the courtroom scenes, and I could watch an entire season of Foggy, Matt, and Karen do their stuff.

Unfortunately, this season is also a complete fucking mess. There was a character in the show that people kept calling Elektra, but fucked if I know who she was. She wasn't Elektra from the comics at any rate. The whole Elektra side of things was kind of fun - I mean fuck, there were more Ninjas than all of the 80's combined - but it was a complete mess. It didn't tie in with The Punisher stuff at all and left the whole thing feeling a bit uneven. Still, it was fun, even if Elektra basically played Tahlia Al Ghul, and there was basically a fucking lazarus pit, so this was basically Batman, the Irish Catholic edition, but still I loved it.

Oh, the last episode kinda sucked, but I feel like that's just a netflix staple at this point.

SALT AND SANCTUARY

So Ska Studios mixed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Dark Souls? Can someone make a game that screams my name any harder?

Salt and Sanctuary is great. The combat is a super satisfying marriage of dexterity, strategy, and bone crunching, blood splattering awesomeness. It kind of plays like you'd expect a 2D Dark Souls clone to, although it definitely has some ideas of it's own.

For one, way checkpoints work are completely different. Basically, you set up a shrine to the whichever creed you've joined. There are quite a few and each have different strengths and weaknesses. Once you've set up a shrine, it serves as a hub of sorts for that level, and you can call in blacksmiths to improve your equipment, mages to teach you spells or guides to allow you to fast travel, among other things. However, each requires a certain item, so it forces you to decide where you want these services.

So I've been digging this game, although I feel it's a bit easy. I struggled at first, but once I stopped trying to block and started dodging everything I became a fucking god of retribution. There are a few enemies that feel a bit cheap though as they can stunlock you to death, but mostly it's just about getting the first hit in and managing your stamina.

This is a damn good game that fans of either Dark Souls or Castlevania definitely shouldn't miss.

Hellfyre Club

Hellfyre Club is a collection of nerdy as fuck rappers like Busdriver, Milo, and Open Mike Eagle. Just enjoy.

So yeah. Have a good end of year.

Salt and Sanctuary is on my list of games to play.  I am just waiting for the Vita version though.

I was looking at the awesome Dark Souls III cover art at Gamestop today. I haven't seen any trailers yet on Gamestop's TVs. I'm sure there are some. I should go watch them now.

No you would be Munk, Munk Drat. Or maybe Snunk Dree. See it just doesn't work with our names. Only Blake.

I watched House of Cards this past weekend and only just finished ep. 2 of Daredevil.

I honestly think that House of Cards should have fallen by now, but we'll see how season 5 goes I guess.

I look forward to the Daredevil courtroom scenes. Loved watching foggy put DA biotch in her place in ep. 2.

I skipped the portion about Daredevil 2 because I haven't started that season yet.

I've seen quite a few folks play Salt & Sanctuary and it has some positive reviews. I might check this game out.

I just finished episode 5 of Daredevil season 2 and am loving it. I agree, this is by far the best on-screen version of the punisher.

I'm curious about your comments about Elektra though. I'm only one episode in with her (ep 5) but so far it seems pretty accurate with what I remember from her original writing by Frank Miller. The flashbacks especially were pretty spot-on with her Man Without Fear characterization.  I admit I haven't read too much with her in it post-Miller, and also have only one episode to judge her so far, so I might change my mind.

Watch a bot further. They do some weird things to her character. Plot stuff is okay, some things she does is a bit weird.
