Little Nemo: Dream Master and Ratchet & Clank

I started the day with Little Nemo: Dream Master for NES. It's a platformer and I generally dislike platformers but this one has neat features. I like feeding the animals candy so you can get into their skins and be them for a while. Sounds sick worded like that but it's totally cool, and cute as heck: wear a frog to jump high, wear a mole to dig. Neat!. The graphics are super charming too. I love the intro cinematics and the whole design of the game. I die a lot though. That pisses me off. I have no patience when it comes to games. Patience is for real life. Not for games.

Then I explored the PS4 dashboard. What's this Playroom thing? Broadcast yourself playing games or doing other things? Ok. Better than Home, I guess. I'd like to stream my games sometime through Twitch, though. I looked at the User Guide and figured out how to save video. Gameplay video records all the time, you just have to tell it to save. It's easy, and sending to social media is too. I love that. Speaking of which. today's screen shots went to my Twitter @JERandolph.

Then back to Ratchet & Clank. I finished the main story. Total time was 15 hours. That's not rushing at all. That's me also trying to collect everything along the way: getting gold in all the hover board races, exploring the world for raretanium, bolts and secret areas. Still, it's a good amount of content with lots of different lush, beautiful areas to explore. I played on the default, normal difficulty. It was tricky in the boss fights, but I managed it with only a little bit of cursing. The final battle was epic and amazing visually. So much was going on. The screen was just packed with action. Yeah, modern technology!

After the credits, I started what is called Challenge Mode, which is just New Game Plus but you can upgrade weapons with complete card sets a further 5 levels. I'm going through and finding all the golden bolts and that last card I don't have. Looks like I'll have some more to do next weekend, but not much more, I think. Once I have all the golden bolts and that last card, I'll see what Trophies I don't have and try and get them. I may be able to Platinum this game, my first on a Playstation system.

Over and out.

Little Nemo: The Dream Master is one of my favorite NES games!  That game encouraged me to start learning about the real Little Nemo comic strip, which was in newspapers in the early 20th century and done by Winsor McKay, who was doing animation in vaudeville before Disney was in diapers!  He was way before his time.  While the video game is based more on the anime movie from the early 90s, it still has elements from the comic strip.  I encourage you to look up info on the LIttle Nemo comic strip, too!  It's very interesting.

Yea, the game really won me over. I put it in my Hall of Fame instead of trading it. I'd like to keep playing it from time to time.

I was never a fan of PS Home, and I don't think I ever fired up the Playroom. It seems quite a few folks have finished R&C already. I own a handful of those games but I don't think I ever finished one. I might give the new R&C game a try a little later down the road.

R&C is pretty short. It'll be $20 in no time. Better to wait for that. Darn does it look super though. A big battle is just a festival of action with not a note of slow-down. It still amazes me.
