I exchanged my broken Genesis controller for a working one at my local retro gaming shop, Jay Street Video Games. I got the same original style controller. There's a smaller one with six buttons, but I like the bigger one with three. Then I traded some stuff and got Pokemon Conquest for DS. I had a talk with the saleswoman about the game and 999 for DS. These were both hers originally it turned out, and she knew both well. I was torn as to which to get and went with Pokemon Conquest, but I really wanted 999 too. Maybe next time. Here's a pic:

I may be nearly forty, but the sight of a genesis controller still brings a smile to my lips.  I had great times with that machine, man.

Me too. The Genesis was the first console I owned, I think, and the first one I played after the Atari days.

Oh that controller, ABACABB Blood Mode in Mortal Kombat. Also I think Down Up Left Left A Right Down was the debug mode. I do love the smaller 6 button controllers but the three buttons have the memories.

I was tempted to go the smaller controller. The original is possibly almost too big, and for kids, it's definitely too big. But the original is pretty comfortable to me. It has the memories too.

Pokemon Conquest is a weird game.  It's a mix of an old series of strategy games called Nobunaga's Ambition, a series that hearkens back to the NES era, and Pokemon.  It looks like Pokemon Tactics.

The saleswoman described it as Pokemon and Fire Emblem. I like that comparison better than to Nobunaga's Ambition, which I'd heard from the day it came out.
