Guys, read the title. The Nioh demo is actually amazing. Firstly, I've been playing for 5 hours and haven't finished it, so right there it's longer than some triple A games. Granted, some of that is due to the fact that this game is harder than Gary Glitter in an orphanage, but still.

Now, if you don't know what this game is, it's kind of like a mix of Onimusha, Bloodborne, and Ninja Gaiden. So you know it's going to be hard. It has a the strategic combat, stamina management, and levelling of a Bloodborne/Souls game, but it's faster paced. You have 3 stances for each weapon and you can customise your combos.

The combat is fast and frantic though, and insanely satisfying. After you've killed an enemy, you have a brief window where you can keep hitting them to dismember more parts of them. It's awesome.

The level design is straight up Demon's souls, where you have multiple missions which are quite long but allow you to open up various shortcuts back to the last checkpoint.

The absolute best thing about this demo? It has an option to let you choose between a higher resolution but playing at 30 fps, or lowering that resolution and playing at 60 fps. I'd highly recommend the 60 fps option because I became noticably better after the switch. Like, insanely better.

This demo has really impressed me. Team Ninja has always made good games (Metroid Other M not withstanding (also fuck Casey for making me play that for basically no reason)), even if these days they're more known for destroying the fabric of space and time with their jiggle physics, and this is no different. This will be a day one purchase for me, and if it keeps up the quality of the demo, It'll definitely be on my GOTY list.

Oh, if you finish the demo you also get some free dlc. So if you have a PS4 you should definitely download it right this instant.

Damn that sucks :/ I had to do that with my 3DS a while ago so I understand somewhat. That's never fun.

I put it in the cue. I'll have to try it before I put away the PS4 for 360 and Saints Row IV. I was wondering what was going on with Team Ninja lately.

Im glad you posted this. I've been playing a bit the last few days and though it was hard as fuck? Like seriously? I think it's harder than dark souls. Even those ghost enemies you can summon are a nightmare. And this is just the intro level? Good god what is the rest of the game like? I'll put more time into it. It is very wonderfully dark and strange. I was about to play Onimusha on PS2, but this will do just fine. Although its very soulsy, it still feels fresh and unique. I'm pretty excited about this one.Cool

It took me a bit. Now I feel like a pro. Just dodge away from enemies rather than around them like you would in souls. You don't have i-frames in your dodge so you really have to force the enemy into favourable ground before fighting them.

Have you beat the boss yet? I thought for sure that's all there'd be but then the second level happened and it's all rainy and pretty. Oh, and did you find the option to switch from 30 fps to 60?

Oh good! I wanted to ask u about this. I found that all the enemies in the beginning area just block way too much. Sort of the way I played through Souls, but is being done unto me and it's quite annoying. I basically let enemies make their move and then I take a few shots at them, back off and repeat--kinda like boxing. What are your Pro-tips. I'll look into the framerate. Is the boss fight badass?

It looks cool but its easier than the areas before it. Basically switch your stances up and learn which ones work for which enemies.

Them blocking is good for you. Hitting them while blocked drains their  stamina ajd when their stamina is drained press triangle on them to do a move similar to dark souls riposte for massive damage and some breathing room. Use rocks to draw them out one at a time and switch between different kinds of weapons until you find what works best for you.

When you have too much loot, make offering at shrine to get xp and items, and pay attention not only to the damage or protection equipment offers, but the side stats as well. Those things helped me a lot.

As for frame rate, you can change it at the title screen. Youll see a thing that sYs movie movie mode and if yoy change that your framerate will improve. My skill seemed to almost double after that.

Do you have a fav weapon/stance yet? I'm sticking with the sword so far. Although the staff is pretty usefull against multiple enemies. These basic enemies are no joke. They are way tougher than the radom enemies in a souls game. They're like baby boss fights.

I got a spear/staff thing that sets enemies on fire, so I use that in fast mood. And no, they're pretty difficult until you get better gear. Also, drop your equip load if you're having too much trouble. It's like Souls in that equipment slows you down and makes you lose more stamina/regain it slower. Plus if you have low equip you get some precious i frames in your dodge.
