I hooked up my slim PS2 today to play Neo Contra. This is a top down twin-stick shooter. I suppose it's in the Contra series. The best thing about it was the opening cutscene which was so full of over-the-top action that made me laugh.
The game itself is annoying as heck. You can only get hit once and your dead. Yes, you get like maybe five lives, but in a bullet hell shooter, it's really annoying to watch your character drop at every hit and respawn. It could have been cool with a health meter or shield with some pickups to keep you going. I wasn't going to put up with it and moved on.
I played Saints Row IV all the rest of the time. I'm about half way towards completion but probably pretty close to the end of the main story. Mark finished the story, and I watched him play some of the DLC from time to time. I can't wait to play that stuff.
I think I'm going to give up on trying to play my handheld games during the week. There just isn't time for it. I think I'll put them in the backlog list and play them on the weekend like any other console game. I do want to play them eventually.
That's about all I got. I could go on and on about Saints Row IV and all the crazy stuff in that game, but I'm frankly fatigued after playing it twelve hours straight. All I can think about now is watching Mark beat up Santa Claus with a giant purple dildo.
And with that, I will see your around the web.
Holly molly, I think you're right. Didn't notice that the first time.
Saints Row IV's gameplay is sooooo Crackdown. Large open world city. Check. Jump in cars and drive like a maniac. Check. Super powers that let you scale tall buildings and glide like a flying squirrel (gliding in Crackdown 2). Check. Third person shooting with psi powers. Check. Clusters to collect just like the agility orbs. Check.
It has so much more than Crackdown though. Tons more side missions that have you doing things like platforming and various tasks related to your special powers. I like the story too. It's a kind of spoof on The Matrix but I still like it. The whole game is a spoof on so many movies and tv shows. It has like an encylopedic level of pop culture refernces. Mark and I were pointing them out to each other constantly.
my favorite character I ever created in a game was for Saints Row 2. I made her fat with a lazy eye and a really funny voice. But when I started the game, it crashed and I lost her without saving and I've never played a saints row since. But I want to correct that soon.
No, but I may have back when it came out. I don't remember. It still sucks to die with one hit. It's almost impossible to not get hit here and there with all those bullets flying around. And yes, I have to play all the Contra games too. Still have to play Contra 4 on DS. I better add that to my backlog list now.
