New Old Games

Went to Jay Street Video Games as is becoming my habit early in the week. Traded a few and bought a few. Here's a pic:

That is the 2001 Spy Hunter game for Xbox I got for $2. Vidjagame Apocalypse podcast last week mentioned it as being good. As I looked at the screenshots on the back, I seem to remember maybe playing it a long time ago but maybe not. I loved the original arcade game but ports haven't been that great mainly because half the fun of the game was the steering wheel and pedal controls on the original cabinet.

Then, with not much else on my mind to get, I saw two Kinect games for $5 each that I always wanted to check out. Fable: The Journey, probably the last Peter Molyneux led Fable game, and The Gunstringer by Twisted Pixel Games makers of The Maw. It has been often mentioned as the best of the Kinect games.

And that's my pickups for the week. I will now try and resist buying anything else but if a sale comes up somewhere all bets are off. Pixl-bye.

My brother Jeff LOVES the Spy Hunter games!

GunStringer is one of the few good Kinect games.  Twisted Pixel was awesome.  Never hear from them anymore, though.

Twisted Pixel did that Lococycle game that flopped. Then they seperated from Microsoft and went full independent. I imagine they're working on something. . . I looked around and there's no new information. I hope they're ok. I want to see more games from them.

I wanted to check out Fable Journey too, to see if the wagon part plays well with the Kinect.

That and casting spells seems perfect for Kinect.

Cool. I may pick it up then. I am going by Softwar Seconds today to see if the have a Neo Geo Pocket Color in yet.

I just noticed Star Wars Kinect today. I may have to check that out. It was on sale for download on Xbox 360. I know it's not great, but I'm curious.

I want the Harry Potter one. You do the wand battles.

Oh, there's a Harry Potter one? I'll have to check that out. I heard about Diabolical Pitch for Kinect today. You're a pitcher who goes to hell and has to fight battles all anime style. Gauranteed to throw your arm out.

Never liked those Fable games.  Still, it's sad.

I still have to finish 2 and play Fable Anniversary. F3 was ok, nothing amazing but I liked it. I feel like it could've been the Zelda for Microsoft.

I'm 80% sure I finished that Spy Hunter game on the PS2. I don't think I ever bought that Fable game because it uses the kinect. I believe I own the other games and at some point I'll continue playing them.

I may have played it too. I'll find out when I boot it up.

I only got interested in Kinect with that Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor game. Then I heard it didn't work so well with Kinect, so I lost interest again. I finally got one for cheap and tried that free Mars Lander game on Xbox Live. That was ok. Now I'm just curious how these other games play. On Podcast Unlocked this week they talked about that Fable Journey game and said it was ok but didn't quite work so well control wise. Why do none of these games work with Kinect controls? Why make a periferal that barely works? Well, now it's firmly done anyway, good only for voice commands. Such a shame.
