Metal Slug 2 and Disney Infinity 3.0

Started off with Metal Slug 2 on Monday. This one has an Egyptian theme. It's also about twice as long as the first one. It's full of fun stuff like getting turned into a mummy in the early stages. You fly a plane, drive a tank and the screens scroll up sometimes; lots of little improvements and the same great music and graphics. It also has the same great difficulty. This one has continues but they are not infinite. At some point you get a game over screen (I never counted the deaths), but the game does save your progress but only up to the beginning of the chapter you are on when you died. So if you have a tough time with the level end boss, you may find yourself repeating the whole level several times. This is what happened to me in chapter 5 (I think there's 8 chapters). I just wasn't up for any more today. I tried using the classic controller, it's suported, but I went back to the Wiimote for somet reason I forget why right now. My mind is completely blotted out with the next game I played all the rest of the day.

Disney Infinity 3.0 on Xbox 360. I finally got a second copy for cheap and Mark and I dug in. I gave him several of my figures 'cause I have a bunch already I've been saving. He played Ahsoka and I played Darth Maul. I played every last tutorial mission in the Toy Box Hub. This took quite a while. They've made lots of little changes to the formula. There's no random grid for buying toys, you just buy them. The sidekick system used in the extra missions on Power Discs for D.I. 2.0 is much deeper and supported throughout the Toy Box. It reminded me of Ni No Kuni because you can feed them food for enhancing their skills. You can also grow your own food in a farm area like a Harvest Moon game. I couldn't figure out how to get my sidekicks to work on growing food while I was away though. I probably have more to learn. There's also an arcade where you can access the multiplayer levels, and a movie theater where the user created content can be played. 2.0 had you acess all this through menus. It's nice to have virtual places to go. I'm still having trouble with some of the flying missions and vehicle tricks missions. I just need more practice with these vehicles. There is also a puzzle area where you have to direct a marble through courses you have to finish building. And, of course, lots of platforming stuff.

After doing nearly everything in the Toy Box Hub and trying a multiplayer match and a user created level, I started the first playset, Twilight of the Republic, a Clone Wars story. But I couldn't start it with my now level 14 Darth Maul. The game wouldn't let me. I had to use one of the characters made for it until I found the coin that let me play other figures. So I used Anakin and found the Darth Maul coin pretty quickly and switched. This game has very good melee fighting. Even with my beefed up Darth, I was having to really stratetize with foes that block a lot. There are more skill trees in this compared to 2.0, or maybe just different. Everything was on one screen in 2.0, but here there are 4 or 5 pages. The levels have lots of side missions, collectibles and special challenges after you beat the story mission. I'm sure I'll be running through the game multiple times to find all those Mynocks and kill 'em. I got only a handful of missions done in the playset before time ran out. I'll be playing this next weekend before Valkyria Chronicle Remastered comes out on the 17th. I'm not obsessively sticking to a game if something new comes along. It'll just have to wait.

And that be it. Pixl-bye.

did you see Disney cancelled Infnity?  Pretty lame.

Have you ever played Valkyria Chronicles before?  that is a GREAT game.

Yea, I heard about D.I. just yesterday when I went to Gamestop to look for 3.0 stuff. Place is darn cleaned out the used stuff? Who did that? I want to know, darn it!

Yea, I got Valkyria Chronicles right after I tried the demo on PS3. I was so excited about the art style and the gameplay. I love the BLiTZ system it uses that combines turn-based with third-person action. It's so perfect. It did get hard though and I didn't finish it. I'm going to give it some more concerted effort this time around though.

i didn't finish it either. I got to the last missions with the crazy enemy girl.  And then I stopped for some reason.  I really enjoyed it though, great game.

I can't wait to revisit it again.

I like the Metal Slug series but I think the only one I ever played through was the one on the PSP.

Shame about Disney Infinity. You would think a series backed by Disney would survive.

Did I make it seem like I didn't like Disney Infinity? I really like it. It looks fantastic. The Star Wars playsets are really cool. They're like a Lego game but even more detailed and realistic. I'm annoyed that the Original Saga playset is a PS3/4 exclusive. I'm going to have to get that version just so see that playset.

Also, Disney Infinity is going gangbusters right now. I counted seven spots for playsets in the Hub area. So more are on the way. I think there's three for the game right now (plus one more for Sony players). Also, I went into the Hall of Heroes where you can showcase all your figures and power discs. Man there's a lot of empty places for that stuff. So much. I'd have to be Richy Rich to have it all.

Oh no I was refering to that the series was dropped. I thought that it would be one that would easily survive considering the licenses that are available in the Disney Infinity Universe.

I just heard about this after your comment. I couldn't believe it! Now I'm having trouble finding 3.0 figs and playset pieces at Gamestop. What? Do people think this stuff is suddenly valuable when they cancel the series? It's really annoying but I'm now checking for sales daily. Toys R Us already has a 40% off sale on figures. I want those playsets though. I have a lot of figures already.

Yeah I think folks will start to horde items because they think it will be a collector's item not realizing how many figures were produced (I heard on CAGcast that their are two million Hulk figures). I saw the 2.0 starter at Walmart for $10 and I thought about it but do I really want to hunt down figures? Not really. Hopefully whoever buys that set enjoys it and isn't buying it to flip because they're going to have to sit on it for a while

I'm worried about the next two playsets to come out. Are they going to sell out fast to collectors because of low production numbers? I'm thinking of preordering the Alice playset out on the 24th and the Finding Dory one out later because of that. I also still need the Inside Out one but it seems to be pretty common out in the stores right now. I'll wait for a sale for that.

I would probably pre-order just in case, but I think with the DI stuff there will be a lot in the wild. I would pick up the other set too just in case folks start hoarding them hoping they can flip them at a later date.

I just preordered Alice. Dory comes out in June but there's no exact date yet. I'll preorder that too.
