Steam Controller

I've been having some fun with my new Steam controller today, checking out various games with it and playing a couple of hours of FF IX.

FF 9

I figured that FF IX would be good because it's controller based to start with.

Well not according to Steam. Apparently FF IX was not designed to be used with a controller but they reassure me that I can use the Steam Controller if I pick a community written configuration.

So what the heck, I pick one and start playing. Very amused to find out that it has built in hacks that allow me to to hit for 9999 on a basic attack even if I use Vivi. I found it by accident when I clicked the left paddle. Clicking the right paddle also stops all random encounters.

The fact is that you can click these two quite easily because they are underneath the controller on each side of the battery cover. Very easy to click them by accident.

So yeah according to Steam FF IX was not designed for controllers but then again Grandia II is designed for a keyboard too according to them, LOL

Bottom line is that I've found the Steam controller very nice once you actually get into the game. I'll be checking out a few that actually aren't supposed to work with a controller and see how it goes.

Ha ha that's hilarious. You gotta watch out for those steam controller presets man!

It's fun seeing the old Vivster take that much by hitting someone with his staff though. He deserves it.

Whoever heard of a steam-powered controller?  Next thing you'll tell me is that you save games on a cloud! :)

I thought about buying a Steam Controller last week. I'm still debating about geetting that controller or a wired XBox Controller for my laptop

The wired Xbox controller comes with a mile of cable attached. Now that I have the Steam controller I will not be using that one.

A mile long cable sounds good to me. I've always liked wired over wireless. I don't want to deal with replacing/charging batteries.

Ive been considering buying one but I might just wait a while yet. I can only game right now on my laptop PC wise and there isnt much I can play it to begin with.
