Clearing stuff off Mt. Backlog

Not too much to report here. Since we've been short one person up until this point (new guy starts on Sunday! Yay!), I've been spending a chunk of time in the booth. Some of that time is very, very slow, as the kiddos aren't out of school yet up here. I've been taking the 3DS with me and have gone back to Fantasy Life. I'm mopping up quests and then I'll move on to the next part of the main story. I have to say that this game has so much to it that I really haven't felt too compelled to hurry up and finish the story.

At home, I decided to finish up some of the games I've started over the last couple of years and then dropped for the next shiny game to come along. That meant dusting off Tales of Symphonia Chronicles and finishing up Symphonia. I'm headed to what I think is the final boss battle, but maybe not. I've been fooled before. Found a whole bunch of little side quests I missed on the first playthrough on the Game Cube, so that's been kind of fun, too. I think I'm ready to head to the final smackdown with the Big Bad now, though. I can come back and finish mopping up later in New Game+ if I want to. I'm enjoying the relative simplicity of the combat in Symphonia compared to the overly complicated combat of Zestiria. I'd really like to find the remaining recipes and finish restoring Luin, so I'll probably continue with the game after I beat the final boss. Oh, and the Devil Arms, I want to find those, too.

What I'll play after ToS is still up in the air. I'm not looking for suggestions, I have so many games sitting in my backlog that I really need to finish some of those before getting anything new. And it will really depend on my mood when I'm looking for something to play.

I consider mine to be like a small celestial body, like the moon perhaps lol

I justify mine as never having to worry about another video game crash ever again.

It's something only those of us who lived through the first one will ever truly understand, lol.

I played computer games or something. But I still played Atari when I got bored with nes.  I played a lot of games either way when I was a kid.  I guess I was left alone a lot.

I'll be getting back to my backlog this weekend. The list is very long, but I'm starting with the shortest games. Next up is Dexter's Laboratory: Robot Rampage on GBC. Oh yea, I just got some shelving to hold the backlog. It's in boxes on the floor right now. I thought it'd be better to be able to see them and be in a place where I can get to them easier.

I keep trying to do things like that. It never really works, I always end up with more games than I have shelving.

I got these shelves from Target really cheap but they don't have enough divisions. I'm going to have to get some wood to make more shelves. I think with about 12 shelves I can get all my console games up there. Handhelds and accessories might just fit in the bottom space, but then there's consoles. Yea, always not enough space. I'm just hoping I can make enough of a dent in my backlog to get it all contained. I'm basically trading in anything that's not awesome as I play them.

I'm still trying to finish Final Fantasy 4. I'm coming around to the home stretch, but from what even read in the strategy guide, all of my characters need to grow by 10 levels before attempting the final battle. I'm pacing my self before going through with this. It'll probably be another week before I pick the game up again and start leveling everyone up.

I got to that battle, got my ass kicked too many times to count, and rage quit. Someday I will go back, but not until the memory smarts less.

I could probably not buy another game for the next 10 years and I still wouldn't be able to catch up on all the games I never got around to playing.  My pile of shame goes back to PS one lol.

Got you beat - I have unfinished Genesis games!

Last weekend I played Sonic CD for the first time. I bought that game on my PS3 close to five years ago Surprised It's nice to get some backlogged games cleared up.

My problem is that I love all these long-ass JRPGs that take a million years to play through. My first and only system until a year or two after the PS2 came out was a Sega Genesis. The Christmas that my other half's little brother got a PS2 and gave us the ancient hand-me-down original Playstation that had been middle brother Matt's was the beginning of the end: within 18 months I'd acquired a PS2, an Xbox, a GBA SP, and a Game Cube to go along with it and was grabbing up games that had been out for a long time. So I'm essentially still playing catch-up.

I didn't get a 360 till the end of 2010 and a PS3 the next year, and then I bought games like mad because they were cheap. Yeah, I still haven't played all those yet.
