I wish I could get into Tower Defense games, but they never clicked with me, which is funny because I got into those defend base games on the tablets which is almost the same thing. Good to see you guys are still playing Minecraft, and I forgot that Labor Day is coming up.
Defense Grid 2 and Minecraft

Well, this was the last Monday that I'll treat as a Sunday. I'm going back to a Mon-Fri schedule next week to research jobs. Good thing is, I'll have a normal Sat-Sun weekend for a while. So what did I do to try and relax after a very crazy week? First, I almost got into a car accident. A little carelessness can go a long way towards ruining your day. Luckily, it was just a slight bump with no damage. Second, I played Defense Grid 2 and Minecraft with Mark - again.
I got really deep into Defense Grid 2. Mark and I are chasing down the last of the achievements. One I'm going for is 100 Gold Medals. This has a condition that you have to do it all on one difficulty level. If you skip around, they don't add up. So I continued to play on easy because that's how I played the campaign. I did that because I thought the game would be hard like I remember Defense Grid 1 being. Well, easy is pretty easy. Maybe too easy for me. Anyway, back to medals.
Each map used in the campaign has many modes you can play to get more Medals. These modes give you certain limitations, or lack of limitations, to play with. One I like a lot limits the amount of resources and another limits the number of towers you can place. Yet another gives you a lot of resources at the beginning so you can build really quickly and try strategies out. I like to see how few towers I can use on a level and still win. Control the lanes and choose the right towers, those are the keys.
So, in going for 100 Gold Medals and the last achievement, 50,000 kills, I really started getting burned out on the grind. So Mark and I played some Minecraft over live. We dropped in a new world and raced to find the village for a base and then mine for diamonds someplace nearby. I found diamonds first and nearly got all the obsidian to build the Nether Portal before I fell in lava and burned up. Luckily we had "keep your inventory when you die" on. This takes some of the anxiety out of the game, which is good for me right now.
And that's a day. I may be taking this week to rest and recover, it being Labor Day weekend and all, so I may have some more gaming reports to make during the rest of the week.
