It's that time of year again, Halloween. Time to pull out the inflatables. I saw this one last Saturday while delivering pizza.

It looks kind of how I feel sometimes.
Next is a detail from a Philadephia Eagles Edition Monopoly I got out of the trash the other day. I thought it was funny that one of the Go To Jail cards references the 1970s snowball throwing incident that has become infamously attached to the team. Also, the cheesesteak player piece.

And now to video gaming. I started Skylanders Trap Team. Here's the team I picked from my bucket of figures I collected earlier this year. I chose one to run the campaign and one each of the other elements to do the side missions.

Back row, left to right: Jawbreaker, Wallop, Krypt King (my campaign guy), Thunderbolt
Front row, left to right: Flip Wreck, Fizzy Frenzy Pop Fizz, Hog Wild Fryno, High Five.
I gave Mark a copy of the game too and he played with Ka-Boom.

I tried to play the game on Hard difficulty, but I came across a boss that kept beating me, so I put it back to Medium. I think the game really wants you to use multiple Skylanders to play the harder difficulties. That means multiple leveled-up characters. I'm just sticking to Krypt King, so instead of putting another Skylander on the portal when I get knocked out, I just restart the chapter. Eventually I'll level up multiple figures, and then I might try it on Hard again.
The game is designed very similarly to Superchargers. You have a hub location where you can access the main story and challenge missions; talk to characters who offer you upgrades and store items; and do various other things like short platforming levels, and see trophy rooms.
The main gimmick here, like the vehicles in Superchargers, are the traps. These are crystal keys that fit into the portal which enable you to capture a boss and use it as an alternate form. The portal has a tiny speaker, so the boss continues to comment on things from the portal as you play. I was confused by it at first before I realized the sound was coming from the portal itself. The trapped bosses enable you to open special chests and do side missions tailored to them. You can use them to fight in the game as well, but I haven't used them much for that. They have a meter that runs down, so they function as a temporary power up.
I think the game's really great so far. I'll play it more next weekend for sure.
Well, bye there.
