Got Doom, But Played Minecraft and Some Puzzle Quest

I got Doom this weekend on a Gamestop sale - $20. Then I traded some stuff in and got it for $2. Then I was going to play it all weekend, but got sidetracked by Minecraft. I just saw my friend Mark playing it and decided it was more fun to play with others than by myself.

I did manage to play Doom a little bit though. I basically played what I already had done in the demo months ago. I noticed the snapmap section. I'm guessing that's so you can create your own classic Doom map? If so, that's super cool, and I can't wait to try it.

I also played about 90 minutes of Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords, which is now backwards compatible on XBO. Mark and I tried to play it head-to-head but it wouldn't find either of us online. Not sure why. So I played it in tandem with Mark for a while. It's still fun. I rolled up a new character and played until level 8 or so. I made a Wizard and focused all my level points on Earth magic. Doing that gives you a boost in getting mana from green gems. I'm supposed to get some spells that are attuned to that, but so far I haven't found one. There's some minigame puzzle that crafts spells in your citadel that you can unlock with gold. I'll have to do that when I get enough. But, I went back to Minecraft after Mark quit out of Puzzle Quest, frustrated with the AI that seemed to have telepathic powers. He was at level 30 or so.

Minecraft was a barrel of laughs. Mark and I played survival mode for a seriously long time doing the regular thing of getting the matterials to build The Nether Portal and go fight Ghasts and Blazes the The Nether. We did that on several different maps and then switched to creative mode a little while once the routine of resource collecting started getting on my nerves. It was really fun to build a wacky glass and magma house; and then simulate a volcano erupting by putting lava sources on the top of a mountain right next to the village and watch the flow break into the town and set things on fire. I made a fireball shooting cannon out of a dispenser and set Mark's house on fire. Then he blew mine up with TNT. That's about when we took a break and played Puzzle Quest, but I kept thinking about Minecraft and, after the 90 minutes, started a new map of my own and raced Mark, who was in his own world, to see who could find diamonds first. I think I'll keep this new world and use it for a while and see what I come up with. There's always something new to discover. I've been into stained glass, dyed leather armor, and leashing horses to posts until I can tame them.

Oh yeah. And I made a video of my dogs swimming across a pond to me and then shaking off the water once on dry land. It was adorable. One of them was a puppy. Awe. The things that come up in Minecraft. I think I recorded a sunrise as well. Sheesh. You'd think I was vacationing there.

Finally I've been making slow progress on Dragon Quest VII. I'm in the present world version of Alltrades Abbey right now. I just chose jobs for the three members of my party. I'm starting with the obvious ones: Warrior, Mage and Martial Artist. Later you can add new jobs and then combine them down the road for even better jobs.

That's about all. Right now I'm thinking of making a schedule of everything I need to do during the week. I'm thinking of scheduling my gaming as well so I don't get distracted like this weekend. I want to play some serious Doom. Yes siree.

Bye!

get to that Doom man!  I almost bought Titanfall 2 last night cause it was $30 on Walmart, but I didn't go through with it.  I will soon though cause I want my brother to have stuff to play when he visits.

I have it scheduled for next weekend with Skylanders Trap Team in reserve when I need a break. I almost want to delete Minecraft off my hard drive so I don't have that temptation. I don't think I'll need to go that far though.

Titanfall 2 looks so darn good. There's a level where you battle a lot of Titans. I want to see that. It's Pacific Rim like.

I went ahead and bought it anyway.  I check it again on Amazon and they had it with Prime shipping and whatnot for $30.  The only problem is they are out of stock and I won't get it by the 23rd.  But I figure I mostly bought it for my brothers visit in December anyway.

Great! It's weird it's being down priced already but I guess with Battlefield 1 and CODIW out, that's stiff competition for a game that was somewhat criticized by fans the first time around.
