Comic Con and Bulletstorm

I went to a Comic Con here in the outskirts of Philly today, The Greater Philadelphia Comic Con. Then Mark and I seperately played the entire campaign of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition.

Comic Con was pretty neat. Mark was paying for signatures and photos and I was just tagging along. I looked for comic writers and artists I might know. I saw writer Peter David (I read his Fable: The Balverine Order) and Ty Templeton who does Batman and Harley Quinn covers. I saw a lot of celebrities like Alan Tudyk, LeVar Burton, and Bruce Boxleitner.

                                                     There is Alan Tudyk

There was also Jewel Staite, Kaylee from Firefly. I liked her character in the show, but in person, she's quite stunning. Marina Sirtis from Star Trek was there too. Sean Schemmel, the American voice of Goku from Dragonball Z. Bob Camp, cocreator of Ren & Stimpy. I wanted to buy a bunch of his prints.

One of Mark's artist friends is Scott Derby. He had a booth and does graphic art prints of pop culture subjects infused with humor. Check out that link above. I wanted to buy everything at his table.

Then there were the cosplayers. That's always fun to check out.

Back to base and gaming, Bulletstorm was great in gameplay and not bad in story but the dialog was a gratuitous curse fest. I even learned a few new ones. I found Duke Nukem's dialog to be good but maybe a little bit uninspired. There were a few other Duke Nukem related secrets I found along the way too. The game's graphics and animation look like Gears of War. I wonder if it's the same engine. People Can Fly did Gears of War Judgment right after this game, so maybe this was a preparitory game to that. Bulletstorm is a bit different since there is the leash tool which lets you fling enemies around like ragdolls. Some of the animation and sound effects made me think of People Can Fly's Painkiller series. There's even a drill gun that does things very similarly to the stake gun in Painkiller.

I suppose I'll play the Echo challenges tomorrow but I just got Persona 5 in the mail today, so I may break that out.

Anyway, that's a day. You be you, be you you.

I met one of the creators of Ren & Stimpy at a anime convention once a long time ago.  I can't remember who it was, though.  He drew a picture of Stimpy as Dr. Stupid for me, and I still have it somewhere.

I would guess it might have been Bob Camp because he's done comic book work and storyboarding for animated films and appears at conventions. At his booth, he had prices for drawings he would do on the spot. John K seems like someone who just does animation.

I had a huge crush on Kaylee from Firefly. It makes me jealous you saw her in person and she was that much more good looking.

Yea, she's really lovely. It's been a few years now. She was 20 during the show and now 34.

Hey its Wash and Kaylee! I remember Jewel from that Saturday morning show Flash Forward. That's cool you saw a lot of famous folks at the Comic Con. The valley is now home to two different Comic Cons. I missed the first one last year, but I wan to check it out this year.
