Play Styles in Minecraft

I used the amped worlds option for a seed today. It makes the worlds even more realistic. You can't just roam over mountains willy nilly. They're too high. You have to find a route up or down. They make for excellent views too. That was my solo play for only a handful of minutes while Mark did other things. We he started up a map, I quit mine and joined his. Always much more fun with others, this game is.

And here's the typical play style we both exhibit. Mark went right off killing everything in sight. He found a Mansion, sacked it in the most violent way possible (I would constantly hear, and not see, his defeat of Evokers. Grusome.), and return to the village full of stolen swag. Then he killed everything around the village. I had to (always have to) stop him from killing all the villagers. They do get annoying though, opening and closing doors every few seconds. I let him kill a few of them.

For my play style, I  was thinking of ways to go vegetarian, dye my environment different colors, and organize the coralling and leashing of animals for humane use. I got me two sheep for wool, a horse, and spent a lot of time riding a donkey (ever notice the similarity to the pronunciation of the name Don Quixote and the word "donkey"? Coincidence?). Donkey's are actually quite useful. You can put a chest on them to expland what you can carry.

Inevitablly though. I got into the spirt of battle when the Nether Portal was built. In we went and threw ourselves at hoards of Blazes, Withers and Ghasts, battling it out for the few valuable resources key to getting to the Ender Dragon. As usual though, time ran out before we had enough stuff to enter the End Portal. Such is the Minecraft resource grind.

I haven't read Don Quixote. I've started it. I have it up on my bookshelf. I haven't been reading these past few weeks but I'm hoping to get back into it. I do love reading, it's just hard to set the world down and relax and do it sometimes.

Don Quixote is really funny. I've had trouble getting back into reading these last few months. I've been worried about school and trying to tolerate my part time job. But, just this last week, I've started back in on the Dragon Magazines again. I'm determined to finish rereading the last dozen or so I picked up at a library book sale last year.

I love my Dragons. I fantasized for years of ordering some over Ebay and when I finally did it was so awesome. I love going through them. They are endlessly entertaining and good imagination fuel.

I like the articles that try and bring some real life info into the game. I get little summaries of stuff like the age of dinosaurs, or medieval life. That's what I loved about trying to come up with a campaign design, bringing some real life elements into the fantasy world. I remember looking up what animals lived in which climates to come up with random encounter tables.
