Better Together: Forza Horizon and Minecraft

Split the day pretty evenly between Forza Horizon and the new Minecraft on XBO, the Better Together update.

Forza Horizon. I mopped up a lot of the remaining races. I have five left that I haven't won. I found the last Discount sign. It was in a parking lot just off the main road in one of the towns. I found it almost by accident; although, I was constantly looking for new areas just off road as I travelled around to compete in more races. I took a screenshot I was so relieved.

At some point, I decided to try cockpit view (maybe it's called driver's view or something) instead of the third-person view I'd been using as shown in the picture above. I figured it would be difficult, but I was surprised to find I drove better in this nearly first-person view. I was reacting to obstacles faster and didn't oversteer as much. Plus it looked amazing and immersed me in the game even more. I'm going to stick to this view from now on. But, I'm almost done with the game. Only five races left to win. If only the DLC was still available, I could get even more gameplay out of it.

Then I was surprised to see that the Better Together update for Minecraft had dropped. So I had to check that out. The game is in a higher resolution for 4K TVs and the U.I. is redesigned to match the PC experience. It was a little jarring at first, but I got the hang of it pretty quckly; although, I couldn't figure out how to dye stuff.

It's basically a new game. You have to download it again and you can do all the achievements over again. Oh joy. I'm probably not going to play more of it this weekend though. I was really hankering for some boom boom and wanted to load up Battlefield 3.

Oh, and the 360 Halo games are now backwards compatible with XBO. I was thinking of picking up Halo 3: ODST and maybe Halo: C.E. Anniversary Edition again. I traded my Master Chief Collection and it's still $35, so I won't be getting that. ODST is $10 though, so I may get it. I kind of like that game. It's dark and dramatic.

ODST was the last Halo game I played. I couldn't handle the series after that.

I still liked Reach a lot, but 4 and 5 really lost it for me. No Bungie, no likey.
