i like the skills in Etrian O. I love the classes, the combat. And drawing the map is some Zen shit.

Had to take Mark to the doctor, so I got my business stuff done in the morning and headed over there a little early to play some games. Then I played the Etrian Odyssey V demo in the waiting room for 90 minutes. Afterwards, we got some pizza and played Minecraft the rest of the evening.
Minecraft: I played in Mark's world the whole time. Basically, I had achievements on my mind and tried to remember the ones we had did on the previous version of the game. We both knocked off quite a few of them like: water breathing for several minutes, swimming in lava for same amount of time (both require potions) and doing 9 hearts of damage to a mob (need an enchanted sword for that). We also spent a lot of time trying to get the long distance bow and arrow shot on a skeleton. It's something like 50 blocks distance which is practically out of sight. We shot a lot of skeletons, but no achievement popped. We also tried to breed a donkey and a horse to make a mule. I fed them both the golden apple but they just ignored each other. Weird. That's supposed to work.
We discovered character skins for the game, so Mark was Master Chief and I was some sort of guy wearing a painter's smock. I took a screenshot of Mark as Master Chief weilding the giant enchanted diamond sword I made, but XBO is finicky about sending to OneDrive. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Etrian Odyssey V demo: Got to level 8 with my characters in the doctor's waiting room. It's such a great place to do portable gaming - comfortable chairs and quiet. I had to play with the sound off though. That kind of sucked, but it made my battery last the whole time, no problem.
I'm on the third floor of the first stratum. The demo doesn't let you get past level 10, so I'm almost done. I might just replay it with different characters and level them up in different ways. That might be fun. I'd like to check out more of the Union skills that give whole team buffs. There are lots of regular skills for every character type too. So there's lots of ways you can play it. I love drawing in the map and inserting notes on areas with a special encounter. Some of them you can go back to, like the campground where you can cook food. I haven't unlocked the food making that gives your team a buff for the whole mission. Maybe that won't unlock in this demo. There's been no sign of it so far, other than the chicken I gave to the inn keeper. No eggs yet either.
I really, really want to start Forza Horizon 2, but I'm waiting for Mark to get a copy so we can play it at the same time. Maybe I'll be able to trade for one this week and we can start it this weekend.
