happy thanksgiving!!!
I want Horizon. It was on sale for $20 over the holiday but I think I decided to wait. It looks right up my alley though!

I played three games today: Minecraft, Horizon Zero Dawn and Crimson Skies.
Minecraft. It's always better playing with someone than alone, I figure, even if the alternative is an incredibly beautiful game like Horizon Zero Dawn. So I joined Mark's Minecraft world in progress and spent most of the time in my own village so I wouldn't mess up his stuff. Eventually though, I thought of a way to make things fun again, and that meant light, and not very serious, griefing - I don't want him to quit now do I. I figured out I could grow trees from a sappling in an instant by adding bone meal. So armed with a basket full of sapplings and a sachel full of bone meal. I set about surrounding his town with an instant forest. It was pretty funny, but Mark stayed in his mine the whole time and didn't come out to view the terrific mess. Oh well. Sometimes a good prank goes wasted. But now that I know how to weaponize trees, I'm going to do it better next time.
Horizon Zero Dawn is very cool. I hunted a lot of those mech-aurochs and mech-velociraptor creatures. They behaive very faithful to what I would guess are the real animals. The aurochs kick like crazy and charge you, and the velociraptors jump on you and swipe you with their tails. It's super fun to take them down either by bow or staff. I had to take down an even bigger creature later. I had to use my trap making bow and use rocks to lure it into the trap. Then hit it hard with steel tipped arrows and then finish it with melee attacks. This game is frickin' cool! The landscape is so varied and realistic. You can traverse it very smoothly, using brush for cover or higher ground for a defensive position. Watch out though, those mech-velocirators are smart and they'll find a way up to you. I got surprised by it once.
Crimson Skies is an old original Xbox game now playable on XBO. I still had the disc. Well, it's pretty great. You're in a plane the whole time fighting sky pirates, although sometimes you can jump in an antiair gun turret. The planes are very maneuverable and it's a lot of fun. There are blimps too. You can find new planes and improve them too. I'm getting pretty hooked on it.
So that's a prethanksgiving game day. Happy Thanksgiving to any of you who are celebrating it. I'll be at a family function and have to curb the gaming for a day. No problem, I'll watch my neice and nephew play their games instead.
