c'mon man. If that shit was attacking Earth, we'd all have to join the Defense Force!

Appropriate that I’m playing a game in the future and the future is now. That being Earth Defence Force 2017. I’m looking at the sky right now to see if UFOs are here and landing giant insects and robots to take over the earth. Too bad I’m too old to join the Earth Defense Force, which you know exists in some dark site shelter somewhere. Then again, maybe I’m being trained as we speak to control an AI bot to do the actual run-and-gun. We’ll never know until it’s time.
So, to my secret handlers who are monitoring my progress, here’s what I accomplished today. Got through level 21 playing both easy and hard difficulties. These are two separate achievements. Playing on Inferno doesn’t unlock achievements for lesser difficulties like it does in most modern games. I also tried a few Hardest level difficulties on levels I thought I could make it through. I didn’t. Slowly I’m gaining new, more powerful weapons and building my armor (both from enemy loot drops) that will enable me to complete the harder difficulties eventually. Whether I will tough it out beyond Hard difficulty is another thing. There’s Hardest and Inferno after that.
I’m enjoying it and so is Mark. He’s working on the Normal campaign achievement and almost finished it. I hope he finds that crazy powerful weapon like he had in EDF 2 Insect Armageddon. It basically exploded like a nuclear blast. Looked amazing on the screen. Ha. So weird to enjoy that sort of thing. It’s a gamer thing, I suppose. Totally divided from reality.
Well, my true holiday begins today. I finished my last final exam. It’s a whole month before classes start again. I’m still working part time and have to apply to more jobs and such, but it feels like an old school holiday. Lots of time to chill out and game it up.
