Forza Horizon Madness

I got a working copy of Sega Classics Collection today, but I just couldn't pull myself away from Forza Horizon 3 to play it.

The main thing I did today in FH3 was to level all my festivals to the max for an achievement. To do this you need to raise your popularity by doing any and all events. It took a while but I was also making progress on many other achievements along the way.

I spent some time in car auctions, my prefered way to buy cars, and got a sweet Dodge Viper. I don't know what the seller did to customize it, but it handles well and is crazy fast. It enabled me to win many races and PR events relating to speed. I am pretty terrible at drifting. I don't think I'll be able to get all the skill challenges because of it, but I'm going to see what driffing enhanced cars there are on the auction block and find out if any of those will help.

I figured out how to do convoys. You just beep your horn at other drivatars and they join you until they decide to initiate an impromtu race. I used them to help me find the last View Area. When they join you, anything they come across will be revealed on your map it seems. They haven't found the last of my destructable boards yet though. That is going to be a tough acheivement unless I break down and buy the Treasure Map for $3. But I am not paying for achievements, no way.

Mark sent me a bunch of Bucket List challenges he created and I did them. You can even create Championships and race them. I'm not sure how yet though.

I went after the last of the Street Races. These are races not on the festival schedule, so they are illegal according the game's story. The main difference, though, is you can race with any car. Your opponents can be in any car too. The festival races match the class of car with yours to make things more fair. Street Races are a free-for-all. I won all but one with my Viper before I had to stop for the night.

I'm now level 143 on the way to 150 and an achievement. It's all beginning to feel like I'm at the mop up stage of the game; although, I haven't completed many full Championships yet strangely enough. There are 63 of them and I might have a dozen or so after beating the game. There's more racing to be done, but probably not until next week.

I miss playing racing games. I have project cars 1 but I just haven't delved into it. If I had an xbox - and I'll get one eventually - I would get Forza. My brother is a big fan of cars and owns a Fiat SPider from the seventies and he wanted Forza cause you can race that car in it.

I've been spotting rare cars from the game in other places. I saw a '65 Ferrari Barchetta in a showroom the other day and a 50s Corvette in a tv show I was watching. I was like, oh there's that car from Forza. . . oh wait, it's the real car that they rendered in Forza. Ha! Gotta remember what's real. Darn games.

It's a rare racing game that gets me. Most of them are too SIM and perfectionist for me. Five minuted into Horizon though and I knew I'd love it. Something about the controls. It's like Burnout but less crashes.
