Snow days are made for gaming

We've had a lot of sub-zero cold, a blizzard, and another snow storm since I last posted. I had to work during the blizzard. They eventually closed the market at 5 PM, so I did get to go home early. And the storm on Wednesday happened on my day off, and I spent the whole day gaming.

I started Horizon Zero Dawn and really enjoyed what I've played of it so far. I stopped playing relatively early in the game, as I really want to be able to concentrate wholly on this one as I play through it and I have a few too many distractions going on in my life at the moment. I'll get back to it soon, though.

I have to admit that I bought Lego Indy for the PS3 thinking it would be an easy platinum trophy. Imagine my annoyance when I discovered that it doesn't support trophies. I have it for the 360, and I got all the achievements. I forgot that Playstation was late getting on the bandwagon with trophies. Oh, well. I had a good time on my replay and once again got 100% in the game. I'll give it to someone or donate it now that I'm done with it.

And I'm currently playing through Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4. I'm two gold bricks shy of being able to 100% the game and then grab the final few trophies. I'm a little worried, as the game does have a couple of glitches that can prevent that from happening and I hope I didn't already encounter one. As with all Lego games, I've had a lot of fun with it, even though it's had it's share of glitches and game freezing issues.

Once I'm done with Lego Harry Potter, I'll switch back over to the PS4 and finish off RiME, try to catch the last fish in Yonder to get the last couple of trophies, and then dig into Horizon Zero Dawn.

It made it into the forties today, so out of the deep freee. I have a snowshoe race (that I haven't been training for) tomorrow. It will be in the high forties and maybe make it to fifty, which is too warm. The snow will get soft and running (or fast walking, as I plan to do) will be difficult. Not to mention the overheating factor.

Good luck with Horizon. It is the first game I can remember having such an issue finishing.

So many other people have raved about it. I'll see what happens.

My issue isn't that I think it is bad. It is just too long and I'll lose and regain interest too often for any consistency.

I saw they ported all the Lego Harry Potter games in one collection to the PS4 and only the PS4. I marked it down as something to play one day.

I initially wanted to get that one, but I've only seen the first four movies (I read the first three books and then just couldnt make it through the fourth. People keep telling me that Goblet of Fire isn't all that good and that the last three get better) and I didn't want to play years 5-7 before I read the books and watch the movies. And I just know that if I bought that one, I'd play through the whole thing. And I go the PS3 version for three bucks at Goodwill.

I made it through the 4th book but couldn't continue. It was much longer, maybe too long. I also didn't see the very last movie. I'd play all the lego games though. I don't think I'm spoiling anything. I kind of know the whole story.

I only read past the fourth Harry Potter book and then got tired of it.  So I've only played the first LEGO Harry Potter game, too.  I guess I'm not really a big Harry Potter fan.  When I was a kid, I loved the Chronicles of Narnia books, though.  There may be something wrong with me, but Harry Potter reminds me of Scooby Doo for some reason.

Nope, nothing wrong with you, Cary. I like Harry Potter OK, but there are many other YA fantasy series that I think are much, much better. Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising series, for one.

Horizon's a good game to play in chunks because most of the game is combat, which is good and unique, but still gets old if you play it for too long at once. I would have had to put that one on hold if the story didn't start to pick up right when the combat got dull.

I always enjoy LEGO games at first but then lose interest as they go on (and playing them makes me sleepy for some reason o_O ). We've started several of them but only finish Harry Potter Years 5-7 and Batman 2.

It got into the single digits here last week. I don't want to do anything colder than that lol

I'm addicted to the games, lol. Thirdrail from 1up refers to me as Lego girl.

Weather here is warm to cold. During the day it will heat up but by night were cold again. Its playing hell on my allergies. Thankfully we haven't had terrible winter weather. We had one day were it was suppose to get bad but ended up not even sticking around long. I prefer to stay home and play video games during winter. Hell if I could work all summer and be off winter I would. I still have yet to get Horizon but since they released the complete edition Ill probably pick it up in a few months.

Uhhhh... what's a snow day?

And yes, I was saying that even back when I lived in Oklahoma and Maryland. Snow days don't really exist in my line of work.
