Survival of the Shootiest

I got Agents of Mayhem as a rental today but it took a while to install so I played a few hours of Zombi and then got wrapped up in Army of Two and didn't stop until I had beaten it.

Zombi is a pretty good survival horror zombie game I got for free with Games with Gold. You have to play carefully though because if you get more than a couple zombies around you, you are done for. I was playing on the difficulty mode where you respawn as a different survivor after every time you get infected. I thought that was neat because when you went out again, you'd see your previous character roaming around as a zombie. It was wise to destroy it because all your gear is still in its backpack. After a while I found it a little annoying that I was so weak in melee attacks. Take a couple hits and your down and infected. You also have to repeatedly smash the zombies to kill them unless you have a pistol. So it was only useful to melee attack when you caught a lone zombie. Otherwise it would take too long and the second or third zombie would get you. I kind of wanted to wack away a little more like in Dead Rising, though it didn't have to be that zany to please me.

So I switched to Army of Two, since Agents wasn't done yet, another Games with Gold freebie. I played solo with an AI partner because this is a two player game. You have to cooperate a lot to beat these levels. One gives covering fire while the other flanks the enemy. That's basically what I did and it worked well with the AI. I found myself injury prone though and had to be picked up and healed many times. I was playing on the middle of three difficulties but the real problem was being a bullet sponge. I was more effective staying behind cover and shooting blindly than trying to aim. Every time I peaked my head out, I got wasted pretty badly. I think the game really wants you to work these distraction techniques because a head on battle is not very easy. Mark watched me beat the game and seemed interested. We may try and play the game co-op next time and see how it goes.

Finally, I set up my PS3 because I wanted to see what was still available on the PSN store for that system but I had the wrong power cable, so I set up what I had and will pick up a cable next week.

I'm interested to read you thoughts on Agents of Mayheim. A couple of people that I've talked to said to stay away from the game.

As much as I play the PS3 for NCAA Football I don't think I have opened up the PSN store on there in maybe a year.

I rented it before and liked it. Totally like the original Crackdown with some new twists. I stopped playing only because I wanted to wait until Mark got a copy so we could play it together. Well, he still doesn't have a copy so I'm playing it solo. Maybe he'll get interested watching me play it.

See that's what I thought it would be, but people said that if I was expecting Crackdown than I'm going to be disappointed. I guess I will wait for it to go on sale again and I'll pick it up.

I only played a handful of hours of it the first time, but I was excited. It's funny too, like a saturday morning cartoon. I'm trying to start it up again, but my retro stuff is getting in my way right now. I'll get to it soon though and see how it is in the long haul.
